Firm Confession – The First Step Toward Living an Overcoming Life
You are born again, attend church, read your Bible, but are you living an overcoming life? Have you felt tired at certain instances of your sinful nature and felt helpless about it? Do you think you are the new creation that God had created and the old nature has truly died?
In Deuteronomy 9:22 Moses says that “ And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.”
The Israelites had followed their own sinful desires and created this sinful thing (calf) that made Moses so furious that he not only burnt it, but also he stamped it , ground it very small, and then even grounded it further till it became as dust and he threw all of the dust particles into the brook. Are we very careful in destroying our sins completely until there is no evidence of it in our lives or do we just hide it like Rachel did knowing its place so that we can return to it. Genesis 31.34
Moses was very particular in destroying it completely as Moses knew that it displeases God and never again wanted the people to go back to it. 1 John 1.9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Do you know how faithful and just He is, once he forgives our sins Our Loving Father never again remembers our sins, He removes our transgressions very far away, as far as the EAST is from the WEST – Psalms 103.11 He casts our sins into the depths of the Sea (Micah 7.19) He cleanses away all our sins with His precious blood, Isaiah 43.25. However, we, without destroying our sins and the sinful nature completely, try to go back to the grounded pieces or the dust that was left behind whenever we want and lose our relationship with the Savior and His blessings.
Be ye perfect, as my father in heaven is perfect. We should not be satisfied to live lukewarm Christian lives but strive toward holiness and perfection.
But He was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53.5
He was pierced, beaten, rejected, stripped , spit upon, and he shed His precious blood until there was nothing left. He was hung on the cross , nailed for us, there was so much of agony and pain on the cross till he breathed his last. He rose again victorious on the third day for us to live overcoming lives. So lets determine to renounce our old man and the hidden sinful nature completely like Moses did for our CHRIST and live for HIM alone and bear fruits. Are you living a victorious, fruit-bearing, holy life for the Lord Jesus?
Happy walk with Christ 🙂
