Walk Of Life, Day 8 – July 2020 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs
Proverbs 8:32 “Now then, my children, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways. (NIV)
Before giving any important instruction to children we make sure they are listening, we use phrases like “listen” ,”listen to what I am going to say”, or “are you listening? “ to draw their attention and begin our important instructions. In a similar manner, “blessed are those who keep my ways” is a vital message that the Holy Spirit has recorded.
The blessings of the Lord are upon those who keep the ways of the Lord or in other words, the Lord blesses those who obey him and follow him.
The way of the Lord is very clear in John 14.6 “Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” The Lord Jesus is the way himself, we ought to seek and follow Him in every decision and step of our life.
Matthew 7: 13-14 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
When we begin our Christian journey, we choose the narrow way. If you choose Christ, then the way is narrow and tough, with valleys and mountains, with briers and thorns, with suffering and affliction. It is definitely not a bed of roses. The Lord says “if anyone would come after me, let him take up his cross and follow me.” Keeping the Lord’s ways means obeying Him in all circumstances, being subject to Him in everything, being patient in tribulation, rejoicing in hope, and continuing in prayer.
The Lord Jesus Christ when he was on the earth, traveled in a narrow way he did not even have a house to live, he underwent humiliation, rejection, pain, and suffering to fulfill the purpose for which the Father had sent him on this earth.
Like the Lord Jesus Christ, we may go through similar situations, but take heart, stand firm in your faith, you are not alone when you try to keep the ways of the Lord, He helps you, He gives you his divine strength, peace, and joy so keep on running the race God has called you to. Keep on pressing forward. Never look back or stop but move forward.
Philippians 3:13, 14 “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize of God’s heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.“
How well are you running your race everyday? Are you glorifying Him in everything that you do?
Are you able to overcome the obstacles that come your way by faith and prayer?
Are you tired carrying the load all by yourself in the narrow path or have you handed over to the Lord that which is pulling you down?
