Walk Of Life- Day 9,July 2020 Thoughts from the book of Proverbs
Proverbs 9:1 (NKJV)
Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars;
Here is a verse which I find very interesting. Wisdom is building her house and there are seven pillars. The number seven in the Bible depicts the completeness or perfection of God. On the seventh day, God completed His creation and took rest. Pillars are said to be very important as without pillars, there is no building.
Wisdom is building a house which is perfect and which is strong and sturdy and not weak and feeble. The pillars which hold the building ought to be very strong for the house to be strong. In Proverbs 8:12-14 we can find the seven pillars and its names and their strength below in bold.
12“I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence;
I possess knowledge and discretion.
13 To fear the Lord is to hate evil;
I hate pride and arrogance,
evil behavior and perverse speech.
14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine;
I have insight, I have power.
The seven pillars are Prudence, Knowledge and discretion, Fear of the Lord, Counsel, Sound Judgment, Insight, and Power. If we know the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ, we know that all the qualities abide in him richly. (read Isaiah 5:1-5)
Prudence goes hand in hand with knowledge and wisdom implying that we need to be wise as serpents, harmless as doves, and considering the ways of ants. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil as seen in Job 1:1b This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil. Counsel is to give good advice and to give wise guidance. Depending on our own wisdom is foolishness. It is wise to listen to our counselors and learn so that we may be wise however, Word of God is our ultimate counselor. Sound judgment, in other words, sound wisdom is to have a wise behavior in righteousness, justice, and equality in our day-to-day life. Insight, is to understand, and understand the Holy One who is the source of all the wisdom study the word to have understanding of the Lord. Power Ecclesiastes 7:19 says “Wisdom makes one wise more than ten rulers in a city.” When we attain the above six pillars of wisdom we have the seventh pillar which is the power.
The Lord Jesus Christ was the epitome of all wisdom and the personification of all the seven pillars.
Let us seek for His divine wisdom which is Pure and Holy. Let us not listen to our heart which says you are good as you are better than him/her. Let us seek God for wisdom for all His qualities to be seen in us for His glory.
“But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” James 3:17 Have you acquired such wisdom which is pure firstly?
