Walk Of Life, Day 12 – July 2020 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs

Proverbs 12:11 “He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.”

In the Holy Bible, we find God comparing His relationship with us to many relations such as Father and a Son, Master and a Servant, and Shepherd and Sheep.

He is the Father and we are His sons and daughters. No father would feed his children throughout their life while they happily sit at home without doing any work, except if they are handicapped or incapable of being independent.

He is the Master and we are His servants. No master will pay his servants without making them work for him.

He is the Shepherd and we are his sheep. No shepherd will carry the sheep in his arms throughout its life, the sheep is required to follow its master. It has to walk, it has to listen to the shepherd’s voice.

In all the abovementioned instances, we find one thing in common which makes us realize that our God is the God of Discipline. Never did He promise that He is going to bless us as we sit and relax. There are many promises that we receive from God from His word. All the promises come along with a condition that we ought to fulfill to inherit it.

God demands us to work hard, put in all our efforts. However, we need to understand and remember that it is not because of our efforts that we receive reward, we receive the reward from God.

Then why does God want us to work when our efforts mean nothing? When we faithfully put in our efforts in completing a task, God sees our faithfulness, our motive, and our sincerity and wishes to bless the work that we do.

We live in the days of “shortcuts”. We might save our time and call ourselves smart but most of the times in hurry, we miss perfection and lose the reward. When your work demands your 100% then be willing to give your 100% rather than settling for 80%.

Remember! Be faithful in little things then you will be appointed over bigger things. God will give us the BEST always but He also demands our BEST. Strive for excellence always!!

God is not looking for Escapers but for the Faithful!

Prayer:

Dear Lord,

I praise you and thank you for enabling me see wonderful things in your scriptures. You are the God of discipline. Help me in my infirmities and enable me to be faithful in all the work that I am supposed to do. Help me to fix my motive to glorify you alone through all my work. Let me not be lazy at any point and lose my reward. In the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
