Walk Of Life, Day 2 – August 2020 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs.

Proverbs 2:7 “He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.”

Few years back I read an article about the works of satan. One day satan hosted a meeting for all of his angels to assign a soul for each one of them so that they could attack that soul in the spiritual battleground. One of satan’s workers was curious to know why satan has chosen only few people from the church and did not bother about others. So he asked,” Master, why did you not choose the others? Why do you want to spare them?” For which Satan laughed and replied,”Though they attend church, take part in all meetings, we need not fight them because they are already ours.”

After reading this verse today I was amazed at the second half of the verse which says, “He is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.” Generally we find people who commit a mistake hiding themselves. They live in a constant fear of being caught. They require a hiding place. However, the word of God says God himself is a buckler to the ones who are upright. The eyes of the wicked one are always upon the ones who live an upright life. He wants to put them down and make them to go astray from the righteous way.

A child of God should never forget that the Christian life is a continuous spiritual warfare where we fight against the principalities, powers, and rulers of darkness as mentioned in Ephesians 6:12. Our strength is our Lord. He is our buckler protecting us from the enemy’s attacks.

Do you remember Job? Even he was living an upright life. Satan says to the Lord,”I can not attack Job because who have been protecting him by placing a hedge around him.” (Read Job 1:10)

It is true my dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Our life is not a cake walk. We undergo many battles. But we need not be troubled or worried about it.Because God himself is our buckler, our protection when we lead a life of righteousness.

Prayer:

Dear Lord,

Help me in my every day spiritual walk. Let me not yield to the deceitful snares laid by Satan. Let me not get troubled by the weapons he uses against me to attack me. Lord, you are my buckler. I trust in you and I march forward boldly. In the mighty name of my Lord and savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
