Walk of Life, Day 3 – August 2020 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs.

Proverbs 3:12 “For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.”

A group of boys were playing cricket in their street even after being warned by their neighbors. Eventually they stopped the game after breaking the glass of a particular neighbor who was not present at his home. One lady saw this and came straight to that group dragged a boy and started beating him. That boy was just fielding. He was neither bowling nor batting. The woman who beat the boy was his mother.

If we clearly look into the incident which took place we can understand that all the members of the team are guilty and are to be punished. But why did that woman punish her son alone?

Every parent desires that their children earn a good name in the society. No parent wishes that their neighbors teach their children to behave properly. They consider it as a shame. It is indeed a remark on the upbringing of the child.

Correction and chastisement are really painful for both the parent as well as the child. But it is needed. If the parent does not correct their child, the child might be happy for some time but in the coming days when people start teaching him and scolding  both the parents and the child feel sad.

The sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary has established a relation between The Holy One and us i.e. the relation of a Father and a Child. We are God’s children and he is our Heavenly Father. Even our Heavenly Father does not like his children to be blamed by Satan. He wants to present us blameless. But we being in flesh commit many mistakes for which our Heavenly Father exhorts, chastises and corrects us. This is not to destroy us but to bring us into His form.

My dear friends if you are praying to God out of weariness, asking him to stop correcting you, realize that he is not going to stop. He loves us and delights in us. At present, the process of correction might seem painful but in the end when you transform into His form there is only joy.

Prayer:

Dear Lord,

I am susceptible in every way to err in my daily spiritual walk. I admit that it is impossible for me to be blameless by myself. I need your help, protection and guidance at every step I take. Father, I will not question, I will not despise your correction. I am in awe of your love behind every correction and chastisement I have went through all these days. Thank you my dear loving Heavenly Father. In the mighty name of my Lord and your dear son Jesus Christ I offer this prayer with thanksgiving. Amen.
