Walk of Life – Day 02, October 2020 – Thoughts From The Book of Proverbs
Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Proverbs 2:2 (NLT)
Do you remember the old radio sets where there is a tuner and we can tune in to any radio channel when it matches the frequency we can hear the program clearly, if we do not tune in to the right frequency we cannot understand anything. In the same way a guitar or any stringed instruments should be tuned before using it and needs tuning to use it in the correct way so that melodious music could be produced, if the strings are loose or if they are tightly held it does not sound good. To tune in we need to listen to the sound keenly to check where exactly we need to stop tuning so that desirable output is achieved.
It is necessary that we tune our ears to wisdom, and only we ourselves can tune them and no one else can do it for us. There are many advices and wisdom shared freely concentrating on the right thing makes our journey fruitful. In today’s world where wickedness takes precedence it is so easy to take up the wrong wisdom and convince oneself that it is correct making one self comfortable. In this life we need to remember Lord Jesus Christ, when we take up the narrow way as our paths, our burdens which are like the cross, the thorny crown like situations and bruises like blames and persecutions never makes one comfortable still when we bear them and hand it over to the Lord who is ready to bear our burdens everyday, makes our crooked paths straight.
Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. Proverbs 2:5 NLT
When we tune in to wisdom of God verse 5 clearly says then will you understand the fear of the Lord and gain knowledge of God as to who God is and what He can do, such knowledge of God produces trust. Those who do not tune in to wisdom even when Godly wisdom or advices are given he/she cannot understand it as they have not practiced to tune in to wisdom and understand what they are saying. They will in fact make the one who gave Godly advices as their enemies. Such people believe in themselves rather than God. They make their life miserable and for people around them and family members too as they cannot gel with people who have the frequency of wisdom of Lord Jesus Christ.
Christian life is a practical life, we need to practice and practice until we have successfully tuned into the wisdom of God. What can we do to practice this, Proverbs 2:3 and 4 says “Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding.” 4th Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. We need to cry out to God and ask for wisdom everyday, search and seek diligently among the many voices for wisdom which is like a hidden treasure. We are supposed to be as head and not the tail, get wisdom and live the Bible says, never adjust with the less frequency of God’s voice. Always set your affection heavenward and have dominion over your body, spirit and soul.
The LORD will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the LORD your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. Duet 28:13
