Walk of Life- Day 17, October 2020- Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs.

Proverbs 17:11 “An evil man seeketh only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.”
In International Standard version we read the same verse as “A rebellious person seeks evil.” In today’s devotion let us all try to examine ourselves if we have been rebelling against anyone?
A rebellious person is the one who resists authority and control. According to my knowledge there are two prime reasons for a person to turn into a rebel.
Firstly, people tend to rebel when they find some harm being caused to them. Self-defense is not wrong. When we talk in spiritual terms, people become rebellious towards God. Their life seems a bundle of troubles and they start going against God, questioning His existence. The life they are going through is so painful that it makes them do what they would never dream of doing. They stop praying, reading bible, and avoid gatherings of godly people. They sit in a corner and keep brooding over the things that happened and are happening with them. It is very easy to advice others to wait patiently to see the work of the Lord in their lives.
Jeremiah 29:11 speaks about God’s plans concerning us,“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Whatever is happening in your life, whether it may be loss of your dear ones, being far from your loved ones, trouble in every area of your life, dearth of companion, just remember one thing my friend, everything goes according to God’s plan in the lives of them that believe in Him and the end will always be joyful.
Our God has not asked us to do tough physical tasks. If he would have asked, will we not do it? We would surely do it. He asked us to Trust and Obey. So simple yet difficult.
Secondly, we speak about people who become rebellious because of their egoistic nature. Once a servant of God had given an acronym for EGO in this manner : E- Expelling G- God O- Out. Whenever a believer gets Lord’s exhortation through His word, the ego within the believer makes his heart hard. They find it very hard to leave their ego and to accept their faults It is correctly said, EGO stands for Expelling God Out. When you do not have God within you, how can His word work in you?
Today, examine yourself if you have been rebelling or obeying. If you have found yourself as a rebel at any point, ask the gracious Lord to forgive you. He will comfort you and help you at every step.
Psalm 30:5 “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”
