Walk Of Life – Day 25, October 2020 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs
Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a bad tooth and foot out of joint. Proverbs 25:19
Few other words that different versions of the Bible points out for unfaithful man is unreliable person, treacherous man, faithless man, a friend you can’t trust, liar and a transgressor. When we read the verse as such it doesn’t give us a great impact but whereas when we substitute words like liar, transgressor, a friend you can’t understand the meaning is very profound and it nails on our head.
The two aspects that we ought to understand from this verse is
1. We should be wise to understand whether the person whom we trust is reliable and faithful.
2. Are we trust worthy and faithful to those who trust us?
It is very much painful to be deceived, fooled, betrayed by somebody. Many a times we would have been deceived by people whom we have trusted. Either it may be deception in money matters or in relationship but we should be very careful and watchful as the scripture says “Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. (Matthew 10:16)” Before confiding on anyone let us be very careful to ask the Lord “Am I doing the right thing?
Our Lord has promised in psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” So it is our responsibility to ask our Lord to guide us to do the right thing and to trust the right person. We might not be filled with self-pity just because we have been deceived or cheated by someone or let us not be filled with anger towards the person who is the reason for we being cheated and let us not wait for an occasion to retaliate the same thing again as an act of revenge, but rather let us feel guilty for being deceived. Let us feel guilty for not able to understand the will of God. Let us repent for we have taken decisions on our own. Let us ask for forgiveness to the Lord for not walking according to his counsel. Isaiah 30:21 assures us “whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; Walk in it.” and after praying if the Lord would allow us into a path of being cheated or deceived Keep quiet and Be Calm as it was important for our Lord Jesus Christ to be betrayed by Judas to carry out the heavenly will but we read in Matthew 26:24 “The son of man will go just as it is written about him, but woe to that man who betrays the son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”
Are we trust worthy to those who trust in us?
Being trust worthy enhances our relationships. For any relationship trust is more important. This is like the foundation. If there is a word given to anyone it has to be fulfilled at any cause even if the task is not going to profit us. One of the qualities required for a person who will sojourn in the tent and dwell on the holy hill is “swears to his own hurt and does not change. (Psalm 15 : 4)”
Being Trustworthy elevates us in our ranks and esteem. May be in our work place or the place we study, or in our relationships we should be trust worthy. Our Lord will surely reward for the faithfulness.
“Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master’s happiness!”
May our Lord help us to be faithful and trustworthy.
