Walk of Life- Day 01- November 2020 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs
Proverbs 1:33 “But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.”
Once there lived a deer in a forest. The deer gave birth to twins. The mother deer had to go on forage. So, she instructed the young ones to be careful while she was not at home. The mother deer told the babies,” Do not go out at any cost. Till I come back you should stay within this room.” They nodded and waited till their mother left the home. However, they could not contain their curiosity and decided to step outside the house and see how beautiful the surroundings are. As they stepped out, they started admiring the beauty of the forest. They were playing, running here and there. Without their knowledge they came very far from their home. They heard a strange voice approaching towards them, it was a lion. The lion killed the young deer and waited for its friends to join him. Meanwhile a fox came that way and longed to eat the meat of deer. While the lion fell asleep, the fox bit the ears of the young ones. The lion woke up and saw the fox near the carcasses and demanded an explanation for the missing ears. The fox lied saying, “I have not eaten any ear. These animals do not have ears.” Just then they saw the mother deer coming that way in search of her babies. They called her and asked how many ears does her babies have? For which the deer replied,” they do not have any ears. If they had ears, they would be safe at home and alive.”
We fail to hearken to the Word of God and unnecessarily tremble at every troublesome situation. We cry then and wait for God to help. How good it would be when we hearken unto His commandments carefully and keep ourselves away from the evil.
In the initial stages of this pandemic, there were many messages which were being forwarded on different social media platforms. In order to stay safe, people blindly followed every measure. One of such measures is to have few decoctions. Few people had these decoctions on a daily basis, even though they had no ailments. How madly they wanted to be safe. They took these as if it were a medicine or a vaccine to prevent COVID. However, many were hospitalized with stomach disorders developed due to the over intake of these potions.
To be safe, man gets ready to pay any heavy price. We have the word of God which is the truth. Read the Word of God regularly and hearken unto the voice of God through His word. He will guide you at your every step. Then you will find yourself in safest place and you will have nothing to fear about.
