Walk Of Life – Day 20, November 2020 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Proverbs 20:1 KJV
It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes strong drink. Proverbs 31:4 KJV
I remember one incident in my very early childhood that two people were out of their senses and were blabbering something to each other and walking down the road so I asked my dad why are they speaking like that and what had happened as I was very young to understand. My dad said since they drank tea in excess they are behaving in that way. Though it is not correct, I believed my dad and until my late teenage I thought if tea is taken in excess people become drowsy. Later on I understood and laughed at myself.
Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. Proverbs 31:6 KJV
In the present generation, many are following and moving along with the trend nothing less or nothing more. Many youngsters have given themselves to various addictions and are in a state of confusion though they appear so good outwardly, they have made an even more confusing closet in which they live in this wicked and sinful world. Few years back, there was this news where schoolgoing children were caught in the act of buying drugs.
Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink Isaiah 5:22 KJV
Boys and girls who have not accepted the Lord without any reservation of their gender have become slaves to the habit of using drugs and strong drinks and are deceiving themselves. They are deceived and Satan the deceiver is trying to pull them to into the hell fire by allowing them not to be wise, shutting their senses and heart from the real world and truth. This bad habit just ruins one’s life not just one’s own life but family as well bringing disgrace.
The Lord Jesus Christ offers freedom from every bondage and burden, He sets a prisoner free who is imprisoned in sin, He leads into truth, protects from every kind of deceit of the enemy satan. He is all powerful and almighty. Nothing is too hard for the Lord, He can wash away all your sins and addictions. Dear one, do not desire for the things in this world which only lead you to destruction in the end, never be wise in your own eyes, accept the Lord and experience the Peace and Joy that He offers so freely.
If you have accepted the Lord, it’s your responsibility to pray for such perishing souls to be saved. We need missionaries who go into the schools and colleges and share the gospel. Many Christian organizations do a lot of work in schools and colleges where they set up small prayer cells with the help of one or two born again believers.
1 Samuel 1:13-15 Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken. 14 And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee. 15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord.
We need to pray for such ministries and ministers not only pray but try to minister according to our calling. We need to pray like Hannah pouring all our heart to the Lord, having a burden for such perishing souls.
