Walk of Life- Day 28- November, 2020- Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs.

Proverbs 28:19 “He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough”

When someone enquires about the route to any new place, they surely ask if there’s any shortcut to reach the place early and without much strain. Sadly, this shortcut formula does not work at all times, moreover there are no shortcuts in the most important aspects of a human’s life. The above verse tells us very clearly that when a person works hard, he will enjoy the fruit of it. If he wastes his time, he will be having nothing except poverty.

There was a young man who is brilliant in his studies till his intermediate. He took the wrong examples of his seniors and started to neglect his studies. He considered the advice of his senior who told him that he could clear all the subjects in his final year. Heeding to that advice, by the time he reached final year he had many subjects left as backlogs. His friends who attended the classes regularly finished their course and settled in good jobs.

Sadly, many young people choose enjoyment over struggle. However, without struggle it is impossible to enjoy the permanent fruit of success. Our God never promised to bless us while we sit back and relax. He will never make us as lazy beings.

These days, we find people madly rushing towards the ones who perform miracles. They are least bothered to know Christ; they just want to see miracles happen in their lives. What does God expect us to do for us to obtain His blessings? Faith plays the key role. Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).

Not just faith, but also our obedience can enable us to see the wonders of the Lord. In Matthew 19:16-30 we read about a rich young man who comes to follow the Lord Jesus. When the Lord Jesus asks him to give away all his riches to follow Him, the young man gets offended as he loved his riches. Whenever God asks us to do a particular thing, we must obey implicitly.

God does not seek our physical struggle; He wants us to be available and be obedient to His commands. There is no other way to acquire God’s promises except for following the Lord Jesus Christ. Do not lean on your understanding but trust in the Lord in all that you do.

There is surely and definitely no substitute for hard work. It is important for the horse to be ready for the battle, only then victory will come. This is for all students, do not pray that you get only the questions you learnt for, learn all the questions, do the best you can. For employees, never pray your boss will overlook your mistakes, work so hard that you will minimize the number of mistakes you make. As a believer of the Lord Jesus, study the Word of God to show yourself approved unto God. There are no shortcuts in any job. With messages from all leading evangelists and preachers available online, the temptation to copy sermons is very high. Please go on your knees and receive a word from the Lord. Never give in to temptations of taking readymade sermons. They would not be a word in season to him who is weary. Work hard whatever it may be. Whatever you do, do it do it with all your heart passionately. God loves those who work hard and He will fully recompense your work and give you a full reward. A farmer who sincerely tills the land will surely receive a rich harvest.

“Hard work beats talent when talent does not work hard”
