LORD JESUS CHRIST – FAITHFUL AMBASSADOR

Proverbs 13:17 “A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.”

An ambassador is a person sent by the government of a country to a different country. He is appointed to stay in that foreign land to deal with the matters concerning their homeland. This is a simple way to understand the duty of an ambassador. When we call our Lord Jesus an ambassador, we ought to know what makes Him one.

How is the Lord Jesus an ambassador?

Genesis 1:27 says, So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.”

We all know it very well that God has created man in His own image. He created them to be His children. However, when Adam disobeyed the commandment of God, he lost the right to call God his father. Because, while God the Father is Holy, Adam was not holy due to his sin. From then the men and children became the slaves of sin. They we fulfilling the desires of their flesh, obeying the commands of Satan. The end result was the eternal hell fire. The mission and purpose of God creating man and woman has been lost completely. Instead of glorifying Him, people have started to bring disgrace to his name.

God did not rejoice seeing people whom He had created ending up in hell fire. He wanted His children to enter into His kingdom. How can this be possible? John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  This is when He sent His only beloved son, the Lord Jesus as an ambassador to this earth. He wanted the Lord Jesus to accomplish the task that He has ordained to bring back His people to their home. The Lord Jesus has come to reconcile us with the Father (2 Corinthians 5:18). He accomplished this task perfectly on the cross. He took all our sins upon Him and shed His precious blood for cleansing us. Even today we get an access to enter into the presence of the Lord by bringing ourselves under Hid precious blood. His blood is our pass to enter into his presence.

The Lord Jesus is an ambassador from heaven to earth, to redeem the citizens of His land from the bondage of sin. Thereby making them the citizens of heaven again (Philippians 3:20-21). He lived on this earth and fulfilled His duty perfectly.

How faithful He was in fulfilling the desire of the Father. As an eldest son to the heavenly Father, He saw us as His helpless brothers. He wanted us to be a part of His kingdom. Not as slaves, but as heirs. He did not feel it as a shame and disgrace to leave all the glory which is above just to be humiliated here on this earth at the cross. He was faithful in helping us in obtaining the lost citizenship again without taking any price from us. He paid it all on the cross.

Shall we all praise this faithful ambassador, the Lord Jesus this day who has reconciled us with the Father, who has given us the authority to be called as the sons and daughters of the God?

What is our duty as a child of God?

As a child of God, we ought to be an ambassador for the Christ on this world. we are not the citizens of this world; we are the citizens of Heaven waiting for our Lord Jesus to come to take us to heaven. Each one of us has got a duty to perform on this earth while we are still living. That duty is to fulfill God’s plans and purposes. Out of which one of the most important duty that was assigned to us is to spread the love of Christ. The work that the Lord Jesus has done on the cross is not for a particular country or race. It is for the entire mankind. We need to take this good news to the uttermost parts of this earth, that is, to every person living on this earth.

How faithful are we in performing to duty of an ambassador?

Long back in history there were two countries who had wars going on between them. The country which was being exploited by their enemy chose a man from the military troop who had been performing valiantly in the wars to be their ambassador. They sent him to the country of the enemies to become a channel of communication for both the countries. The person who was sent was good initially, but as days passed by, he started earning riches in that foreign land and became busy in that business. At last, he became a reason for the enemy to defeat his own country. Though he received few riches of what was promised to him by the enemy. He remained as a traitor in the history of his country till today.

Are we as the children of God being as that ambassador? Have we lost our vison of spreading the gospel and winning souls for Christ? Are we very busy in pleasing the enemy by following his rules and his customs? You know your duty as an ambassador of Christ and you also know where you are now.

Do not be as that traitor giving yourselves to fulfill the desires of your flesh. You might be leading a rich and luxurious life on this earth, but the reward comes from God. Just imagine what reward we would be receiving if He finds us as a traitor!

Let us praise God for being a faithful ambassador in coming to this world and redeeming us from our sins through His blood and reconciling us with the father. Let us consecrate and determine to be a faithful ambassador for Him as long as He allows us to stay here on this earth.

2 Corinthians 5:20 “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.”

Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do or say do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus.”

“An ambassador should study the welfare of his country, and not spend his time in feasting and riot.”
