Walk of Life, Day 19- December 2020- Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs

Lord Jesus Christ – Our Counsellor

There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand. Proverbs 19:21

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Counselling is an art, not everyone can do it. Chosen people of God who stay close to God are burdened to lead and guide younger generation or the brethren in the right direction.  Those who are not close to God use their own wisdom and a mixture of the worldly wisdom to give a piece of advice.

Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Counselor, Wise God, to whom the Psalmist David asks for Counsel and Gods leading and also enquires before he took any decision.  It is very amazing how the most High and mighty God desires to lead a mere mortal man through His still small voice and His word.  Not just His counsels but He had given us the teacher and helper who is with us to help us on the way that our Lord had shown.

There are many ideas in one’s heart, many plans yet the plans of the Lord only prevail in the end.  This world is His and everything in it.  For a while it may appear as if all your thoughts and plans are being accomplished very well.  The Lord does whatever pleases Him.  Much more to those who depend on Him for His mercy truth and grace.

We ought to remember that it is better to remain silent than to give wrong counsels in which the Lord is not pleased.  Our words have great power. Our Lord has given us the power of life and death to the tongue.  Godly counsels makes our plans work out successfully.

We have the assurance from God that He will guide us with His eye and teach us the things that we should do. It’s an absolutely a great pleasure to hear His small shrill voice leading us in the way that we should proceed either to the right or to the left. He has given us His navigation maps through His word which clearly directs us and makes us wise.

Dear brothers and sisters, instead of depending on our own wisdom or on the counsel of the world let us make it as a regular practice to depend upon the counsel of the Lord as per His word even in a very small matters.
