Walk of Life – Day 28, December 2020 – Thoughts From The Book of Proverbs
Lord Jesus Christ – An Impartial God
To show partiality is not good – yet a person will do wrong for a piece of bread. Proverbs 28:21
To show partiality is not good, yes the Bible says we should not be a respecter of persons, our Lord is not a respecter of persons, He does not show favor to one and despise another. He loves everyone equally…He came into this world for the entire world. It is sin to have a kind of fondness toward one and look down on another person for the talents they possess or for the nature of person. The Lord Jesus Christ’s blood is freely available for everyone, His grace and love extends to all nations, the Lord has freely given the good nature freely to everyone, the sun gives light to everyone and so is the air without which we cannot live if he shows partiality toward his favorite people.
A person can do better when he/she is respected and feels wanted but not vice versa. If God had shown partiality we would have never existed, it is better not to place our desires and judgments before God’s choice. When some person is showing partiality it means that he/she is judgmental and does not have any respect for others nor can show the love of Christ for everyone in the same way.
Let us have the eyes of our Lord our Savior and look at others like he does, since we are on earth, we are not perfect yet we are supposed to strive like him and become spiritual minded. What does being impartial mean? Does it mean treating everyone exactly the same? It means showing the right judgement based on certain valid considerations. Imagine a judge trying to solve a case. If he bases his judgement on the gender, the personality, the family background, or the influence of a person, he is an unjust judge. He only should judge whether the person is guilty or not…nothing more, nothing less.
Similarly being children of a just God, we must show justice in judgement. We must understand that as members of the Body of Christ, each of us is unique and needs to fulfil his specific role. Holding one in preference of the other, or treating each one differently is not according to God’s plan. Bakht Singh uncle always said “Every believer is equally precious in God’s sight” There is no high or low, no rich or poor, no preference based on education, language or caste or creed.
“17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19 If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, yet one body. I Corinthians 12:17 to 20”
The Lord never approves of partiality. Be just in your judgement. Whether at home, at work or at church, never show any form of favoritism.
