Walk of Life – Day 3 – January 2021 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs
NEW BEGINNINGS – NEW WINE
Proverbs 3:9, 10: Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
John 2:10, “And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.”
Wine, in the Word of God speaks about joy and gladness. The first miracle of the Lord Jesus was at the wedding at Cana.
When the Lord Jesus turned the water into wine, nothing tasted better than that. When the Lord Jesus blesses your new year, nothing can work better in your life, your joy will be full. What are the principles for this wine to be always new or this joy to be always fresh and contagious giving joy to many.
First, invite the Lord Jesus into your life, into your home, into every place that you are. Never go to a place that you cannot invite Jesus to. If you have to go without Him do not go at all. Christ should be there in every single area of your life.
Second, listen to His Word or in other words as mentioned in this verse Honor the Lord in everything. Follow His Word in all that you do. Mary the mother of Jesus said “do whatever He says” She could have got upset that he seemed rude or she could have told them I told him but he did’nt seem like He would help so you go buy some wine, am not very sure what He will do. But she was very clear, she knew there was something very unique about her Son and she knew in her heart He was the Savior and she calmly told the servants please do as He says.
Third, wait for the Lord’s time. The Lord Jesus said, woman, my time has not yet come. And Mary was patient. She did not get worked up, she did not run around frantically, she did not weep that her son was not listening to her immediately, she quietly believed and agreed. God’s time is always the best, never too soon, never too late. Never question His time, he maketh everything beautiful in His time. He is a faithful and a true God.
Fourth, as per the principle in verse 9,10, Giving should be a part and parcel of our life this new year. The more you give, the more blessed you are, and the more is your joy. No one who has given all for the Lord Jesus has ever regretted it. He is no debtor of persons. He will bless you abundantly both physically and spiritually. Not just give your money, but also your time and your talents. Remember the more you honor the Lord, the more He will honor you. If not in this life, for sure in the life to come. So rest assured my friend in His goodness, if you follow these divine principles, new joy will surely be your portion.
New Year Resolution: Lord help me to keep you supreme in every area of my life. Help me to listen to your voice and obey it every moment of this new year. Lord help me to be patient for Your time because you know the end from the beginning. Finally help me to be a cheerful giver, to give my time, talent, and treasure for the furtherance of thy Gospel. In Jesus name, Amen.
