Walk of Life – Day 9 – January 2021- Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs.
NEW BEGINNINGS: NEW INSTRUCTIONS TO THE WISE
Proverbs 9:9 “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will yet be wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.”
There is no such person who has acquired all the wisdom and has nothing left to learn. If there is someone who feels that they know everything, that person can be termed as a fool.
One would be called a teacher as soon as they finish their teacher training course. However, after becoming a teacher, one has to attend several workshops which are conducted at least once a year to know new methods of teaching. This would keep the teacher professionally fit and healthy and also updated. A teacher who lacks such trainings in service is termed as an outdated one. This is not just in teaching field but this takes place in several fields of professional life.
This tells us very clearly that no one is perfect for any thing on this world. we ought to get updated time and again to cope up with the pace with which the world is moving today.
What if someone refuses to update himself and calls himself a well learned person? Well, that person is called as a fool. Only a fool thinks that he knows everything and has got enough wisdom to deal with things that he comes across.
The main thing that the Lord Jesus Christ teaches us is to be humble and down to earth. There is no where mentioned in the Holy Bible that any of the prophets, priests, leaders, apostles, disciples and the Lord Jesus himself exalting themselves. The Lord Jesus Christ has led a perfect life which serves as an example for those who trust in Him. Being the only child of heavenly Father, sent to this world to fulfil the purpose of the Highest God, Lord Jesus never showed pride throughout His life. He was very humble, even when the people questioned His powers and authority, He did not choose to prove Himself to them, but He chose to fulfil God’s purpose and plan.
Only when we are humble, we prepare ourselves to accept instruction. As long as we live in an illusion that we know everything, we can never learn something new.
There were few students in a school who happened to be the toppers of their class. They considered themselves as the most desirable students of the entire school just because they were being praised by every teacher who taught them. A new teacher has joined the school and started to teach the students, this group of students considered themselves wiser than the new teacher and gave deaf ear to her lessons and classes. They thought they were capable to do it on their own. Though they received all A’s in every subject, they failed in this particular subject which was taught by the new teacher. Their confidence and their pride came to level zero once they received their grades.
It is not just with this school children, but with us in our spiritual life we make the same mistake. Many who are blessed to be born in a Christian believers’ family consider salvation as one of the genes that they acquire from their parents. Most of them who happen to listen to messages right from their childhood become an expert in theology without joining any Bible college. Until and unless the work of Holy Spirit is started in them, they happen to live as fools considering themselves wise and in need of nothing spiritually.
We had a children’s meet in our locality during summer when I was a child. I invited one of my friends who was a pastor’s daughter. We generally have group discussion after the main lesson was taught. In the group, the group teacher asked my friend if she was born again. For which she replied,” My father is the pastor of this church.” Aunty just smiled and preached gospel to her.
You might be living in such state where you have unknowingly let the pride within you to close the doors for new instructions. My dear friend, do not live in such fake illusion which leaves you outdated and as a fool. Open the doors to drive away the pride and ignorance, only then will the new instruction enter your minds and direct you to lead on the path that the Lord Jesus has laid for you.
Never consider a preacher less spiritual than you based on their year of knowing Christ. If God has enabled a person to stand before you to preach to you, it is not the person who is talking to you, but it is God who wants to talk to you. If you are rejecting the instructions just because it is coming from a person younger to you in any way, this means that you are rejecting the new instructions that are coming from God.
NEW YEAR RESOLUTION: Dear Lord Jesus, out of my ignorance and with the pride had been ruling within me, I have rejected your instructions all these years. I have been wise in my own eyes and ended up being a fool. I now drive way that ignorance and pride. I welcome and prepare my heart for the new instructions that your word has for me this new year. Help me in sticking to this decision and kindly seal it now in Jesus precious name I pray, Amen.
