Walk Of Life – Day 27, February 2021 Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs
BLESSINGS OF GOOD FRIENDS
Ointment and perfume delight the heart, and the sweetness of a man’s friend gives delight by [a]hearty counsel. Proverbs 27:9
Good friends are hard to find, Harder to leave and impossible to forget”.Friendship means understanding and not an agreement. It means forgiveness and not forgetfulness. It means the memories to last even if contact is lost …
Friendship is an important part of the life and strong relationships with people always keep us happy. Best friends are there with us to share good times and stand by us to help us overcome the hard times; they are sincere in their relationship and make incredible sacrifices. Friendship is all about the wonderful moments with our people and sticking to them no matter what we do or what goes on. There are friends we shop with, we share interest with, we go movies with etc. Having a best friend is a huge bonus in life. We get to share our thoughts, dreams, fun times and problems with someone who knows, understands and cares about us.
Making friends is one thing, but maintaining friendship is a great commitment. Our friends are our guides in life as well as they help us and others to define who we are. Friendship is a very delicate and sensitive relationship. It is like planting a seed and nurturing it, to see it blossom. As there is a popular saying a Real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out from our life. Remember “When we respect our friends and treat them as we would to be treated, we shall always be rewarded with a trustworthy and an everlasting companionship in our lives”.
Contemporary Christian piety tends to place words like “sin,” “re-demption,” “atonement,” “justification,” “repentance,” and “born again” at the center of conversations about what it means to live out the offer of salvation made available through the life and death of Jesus Christ. “Friendship” does not figure prominently in such a theological world, since friendship is normally relegated to the secular realm, as exemplified by the prominence of friends as the pivot of plots in television shows and movies. Yet as the quote from the Gospel of John shows, nothing could be farther from the truth. For Jesus, friendship is the ultimate relationship with God and one another. One of the most common verbs for “love” in Greek is phileō; the Greek word for friend, philos, comes from this verb. In the New Testament a “friend” is immediately understood as “one who loves.” This fundamental connection between love and friendship is an essential starting point for reclaiming friendship as a resource for faith and ethics for contemporary Christians.
“I have found a friend in Jesus,
He’s everything to me”
A hymn that’s so special. Whatever and whoever be our earthly friend though they desire to be with us and help us at all times, they cannot as they are filled with limitations. Start having Jesus Christ as your friend and He will be with you always.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the privilege of being my friend. Lord help me to be strong always with this faith. In Jesus’ most precious name. Amen
