Walk Of Life – Day 5, April 2021 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs – Don’t s
DO NOT DEPART FROM THE WORDS OF GOD’S MOUTH
Therefore hear me now, my children, And do not depart from the words of my mouth. Proverbs 5:7
The Blessed Holy Spirit reminds us again and again not to forget the words of God’s mouth. The Word of God is living and powerful, sharper than any two – edged sword piercing even to the division of soul and spirit and of Joints and Marrows and is a discerner of thoughts and the intents of the heart.
We are indeed blessed and privileged than the Psalmist David, Scribe Ezra or King Josiah for they all had only the laws of Moses with them and amazing is their eagerness to read and meditate the law. Imagine anyone of us writing 176 verses just for the word of God. We have more than what they had. In fact we have a complete and a perfect book. 2 Timothy 3:16 says “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. How much we should meditate on them.
We have heard about many saints who have merged their life with the Word of God. Fanny J. Crosby, known as the Queen of Gospel song writers became blind at the age of 6 and has written numerous hymns and poems concentrating on the love and grace of God. More fascinating and inspiring fact is that Crosby memorized five chapters of the Bible each week from age 10, with the encouragement of her grandmother and later Mrs. Hawley. By the age of 15, she had memorized the four gospels, the Pentateuch, the Book of Proverbs, the Song of Solomon, and many of the Psalms. If she, being blind achieved I am ashamed to even write of her. I am sorry Lord for not taking your Word so Seriously.
Many a days our mobiles comes first in hand more than the word of God. Our Sunday school teachers indeed instructed us not to have breakfast before reading the word of God and they followed it. We living in this era are blessed with abundant resources to understand the word of God, but we fail to sit at the feet of our Master.
If someone wrote you love letters and you loved that person would you read those letters or just let them catch dust? As believers we must never neglect God’s love letter to His children. Many Christians ask why should I read the Bible? We have time to do just about everything else, but when it comes to reading Scripture we say well look at the time I have to go.
You must set a daily time when you’re in God’s Word. Instead of watching TV in the morning get in His Word. Instead of scrolling up and down Facebook and Instagram like the daily news open your Bible because it’s more important.
“There are four principles we need to maintain: First, read the Word of God. Second, consume the Word of God until it consumes you. Third believe the Word of God. Fourth, act on the Word.” ~ Smith Wigglesworth
Prayer: Lord, help us to love your Word. Blessed Holy Spirit, be our teacher today and everyday. Amen.
