Walk Of Life – Day 15, April 2021 – Thoughts From the Book Of Proverbs – DON’Ts

DO NOT SPEAK HARSH WORDS

A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare. Proverbs 15:1

Out of the abundance of the heart a mouth speaks. A gentle answer can never pop out if one’s heart is hardened. A gentle answer comes out from a soft heart. A soft answer can come out in a soft tone and also from a good and kind heart. So this cannot be mastered in a day or two. We need to practice speaking kind words always. A good tree bears good fruit while a bad tree bears bad fruit.

Humanly speaking, words spoken in anger are too harsh and very painful but we need to bear in mind that the other person has to answer just the opposite way. It is not impossible. We need to practice to be kind in all the situations which is so tough in today’s world with the increase in wickedness and unrighteousness. As children of God we need to strive to live in peace with everyone. If the other person do not have such attitude its our responsibility to strive for peace. Situations may seem so unjust still trusting God and leaning on Him is better to stay calm than speaking words of wisdom when does not perceive it.

Harsh words remain for a life time. Once a word is spoken it can never be taken back. By now our brain must have remembered many such occasions when we were troubled by others words and others by our words and actions. It is wise to avoid contentions, Proverbs 17:14 says, Starting a quarrel is like opening a floodgate, so stop before a dispute breaks out.

In the heat of bringing up one’s point of view to be accepted by others a quarrel begins. It is always good to share one’s thoughts and respect each other when the other one is able to receive what is being said. A wise person can understand that anger does not resolve anything but destroys everything. A gentle word in midst of such turmoil can do wonders but a harsh word makes it a catalyst.

When the spirit of God is in the midst of us it brings oneness and unity, as God the father, the Holy Spirit and the son Lord Jesus Christ were united and in unity mighty things are done. When Abram’s herdsmen and Lot’s herdsmen had disputes, Abram used his wisdom in dealing wisely since there were no place for the herds of cattle. Genesis 13:8 Finally Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not allow this conflict to come between us or our herdsmen. After all we are close relatives. Abraham was wise enough to understand the wiles of the devil. They did not lose the peace in midst of them. It is we who allow conflicts and do not understand the wiles of the devil, and bring damnation to slf. Abraham exhibited leadership quality and spoke kind words and calmed the conflict without going for pride.

But understand this: In the last days terrible times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good,… 2 Timothy 3:1,2 In this end days, as ambassadors of Christ lets march forward to walk in love and righteousness.
