Walk Of Life – Day 24, May 2021 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs – MAY

May we desire fervently to deliver those who are drawn towards death

Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. – Proverbs 24 : 11

Never like this time we would have understood the intensity of the word ‘death’. Yes, there were natural disasters like earthquakes, floods and even Tsunami was not so ruthless like this this minute unseen virus. I’m certain the one who is reading this has not experienced the perils of war. The verse “oh! death, where is thy sting and oh! grave, where is thy victory” was proclaimed in the funeral service and I have never realised that death and grave are so victorious. There was always a reason to justify death and there were words of comfort readily available in our mouth, whereas now how will we comfort? What justification can we give to the death of our near ones? So vulgar that this death is it did not see the difference between the young and the old, the healthy and the week, the responsible and the irresponsible. Just we hear and we are bound to accept the words ‘has been taken to glory’ if we are sure they are believers, or ‘Has Passed away’ for unbelievers.

So pathetic. For a believer, and his family there is a hope. But whereas for an unbeliever there is no hope. I feel like hitting against a wall for the blessed opportunities that I have ignored or wasted in sharing the gospel to my colleagues and to the sisters of my neighbourhood. I wasn’t afraid or I haven’t felt shy to talk anything rather than the gospel, which alone is the truth. Being an extrovert, I used to start any conversation with the person sitting beside me, waiting for the right moment to share the gospel but alas it would be the right time for that person to get down. Now most of the channels to share the gospel are closed. No other go. We have to seek more ernestly to rescue our loved ones from death. If not now then never.

The only commission that our Lord has given each and every believer is to proclaim the gospel. Let us seek the face of the Lord to provide us opportunities to share the gospel to the dying people without any difference.

“Must I go, and empty-handed,”
Thus my dear Redeemer meet?
Not one day of service give Him,
Lay no trophy at His feet?
“Must I go, and empty-handed?”
Must I meet my Savior so?
Not one soul with which to greet Him:
Must I empty-handed go?

Not at death I shrink nor falter,
For my Savior saves me now;
But to meet Him empty-handed,
Thought of that now clouds my brow.

The day for us to meet our Lord is very near dear brothers and sisters. Let us be very fervent to deliver those who are drawn towards death. May our Lord bless everyone of us to be His warriors to defeat Satan, The Prince of death. Hallelujah!
