Walk of Life – Day 2, June 2021 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs – Fear Not!

Fear Not – The Lord has kept SUCCESS in store for you!

He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless. Proverbs 2:7

This is a very common business topic or something that everyone searches for…how to be successful? Every human being’s craving and striving is to be successful in life. If you see famous Bible characters like Joseph, Daniel, and others, they excelled in whatever task was given to them, they were the best, no one could outbeat them. They were successful not in their own strength but because the Lord was with them. The clause for success is very simple. Psalm 1 and so many other scriptures and characters in the Bible indicate that meditating and obeying the Word of the Lord will make one very successful.

I always wonder how does God measure success?

Keep this book of the law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful (Joshua 1:8).

Blessed is the one whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers (Psalm 1:1-3).

“Those who are deeply planted in God’s Word may not be wealthy, but they will be fruitful in God’s work, which is true prosperity.” (The Jeremiah Study Bible NIV).

God’s view of success is directly tied to faithfulness and walking with Christ. Our success in the kingdom is not based on numbers. It’s based on what happens when we use our gifts to cultivate faith and point others back to God.

Qualities that promote success and a good reputation include:
  • Being upright. See Proverbs 10:7; 12:3
  •  Hating falsehood. See Proverbs 13:5
  • Committing your plans to the Lord. See Proverbs 16:3
  • Thinking before speaking. See Proverbs 17:27, 28
  • Humility and fear of the Lord. See Proverbs 22:4
Qualities that prevent success and cause a bad reputation include:
  •  Wickedness. See Proverbs 10:7; 12:3; 28:12
  • Seeking honor. See Proverbs 25:27
  • Hatred. See Proverbs 26:24-26
  • Praising oneself. See Proverbs 27:2
  • Hiding sin. See Proverbs 28:13

If you live a holy and a righteous life, pleasing the Lord, fear not, the Lord has kept success in store for you. Think of the life of Daniel. Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile  himself. The Bible records that he had an excellent spirit…no one did it better than Daniel. From ruling the kingdom to interpreting dreams to answering baffling questions, this man was above competition, he was the best and he gave all the glory to God and God alone. Joseph ran away from sin…he was so perfect in the work that he did that in Potiphar’s house, in the prison, and in the palace he was given a leading role. He loved God and God was with him always. Always strive to be the best in whatever task is given to you, may be small or big, do it with all your heart.

” It is not your business to succeed, but to do right; when you have done so, the rest lies with God” – C.S. Lewis
