Walk Of Life – Day 28, June 2021 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs – Fear Not!
FEAR NOT! FOR YOU WILL OBTAIN MERCY
He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.– Proverbs 28:13
There is a Sunday school story that most of us would have heard about a brother and a sister. One morning the father and mother of Grace and George left them at home instructing them to be careful and watchful over the house. There was a beautiful glass fish tank with lovely fishes. Grace, started cleaning the house as she wanted to make her mother happy. Whereas, our George was playing continually, without listening to his sister’s instructions. As he was playing with a ball, it hit the fish tank and what happened is a disaster. Grace scolded George very badly and at last agreed to protect him from parent’s wrath provided, he obeys her. The deal was made and the crack fish tank was kept in such a way that the crack was not visible. Parents came home in the evening and they were indeed surprised to see George obeying her sister in all means. Though they were happy there was a slight suspicion as George was not happy and free. Somehow mother understood about the fish tank and she waited for George to open out to her. The next day morning Grace started giving one task after another and Poor George could not resist her but did all she commanded to do. George looked at mother and her tender face and with so much of reluctance opened out to her and confessed his fault. Mother patted his back and hugged him and said to him “Son I was waiting for this moment. I wanted you to come with courage to confess the mistake that you have done. So long, you were ensnared by your sister. Obeying and helping her is absolutely right, but it should come out of love and not out of fear. You are free now.” George was so happy, his cheerful face was restored. When his sister tried to assign him work he said back to her “I will do it for you akka, not out of fear but out of love.”
Dear friends, We all have experienced this in one way or the other. Hiding our sins within removes our joy, our happiness and our confidence to live in this world. There are sins which we done against men and against God. Sins which we cannot share with even our closest kin. Are you in such a situation brother/sister? Have you lost your joy? Have you lost your relationship with God? Do not hesitate to confess your sins right now to our Father. Just like the mother of George our Heavenly Father is waiting patiently for us to open out to Him. He wants us to restore the companionship with Him. As long as we are in sin we will not be able to look at His face. Just like Adam and Eve hid themselves sin will separate us from God, from eternity.
Psalmist David says in Psalm 51:12 “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit”. Without procrastinating Set things right before God and man as as John Newton says “We serve a Gracious Master, who is able to change our mistakes for His glory and for our advantage”. once when we confess our sins and forsake them we will obtain mercy. So Fear not!
