Walk Of Life – Day 04, September 2021 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs – Step In
Step In To Shine More
The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day – Proverbs 4:18
Some of the hash tags given to describe us by apostle peter in 1 Peter 2:9 are ‘Chosen People’, ‘Royal Priesthood’, ‘Holy Nation’, ‘God’s special possession’ and finally ‘people called from darkness into marvelous light’. We really feel grateful for all these extraordinary privileges given to us. We humble ourselves and worship before the church acknowledging our unworthiness to receive all this high esteem. The question that I want to ask myself is “Do I really behave in such a way that I have come out of darkness into the marvelous light?” And have all the redeemed children of God behave in such a way? One candle casts away the darkness of that room in which it is alighted. If so, are we casting out the darkness where we are in?
Dear children of God we are called out for a purpose. To shine for Him who have called us from darkness into marvelous light. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16).
This may be one of the first verses you learned in Sunday school. No doubt you sang the song: This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine. Jesus said that we (His disciples) are the light of the world. We must not hide that light under a bushel or in a church building. We must let it shine. How will people see that light? Through our good works.
The verse that we have taken for today says that the path of the just is as the shining light. A just man will always step in to do good works. Are we reflecting the illumination of our Creator, bringing a tiny light to the darkness of this world? Whether through honesty, graciousness, patience, positivity, or myriad other qualities, it’s a question worth asking ourselves. Like the moon, the light we reflect comes 100% from another source. And that source is the Lord Jesus Christ, The authour and finisher of our faith and in whom there is no blemish. Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, whoever is watching you step in today to do good and be good so that the men might see you and praise God.
“For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of the darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us” (2 Cor 4:6-7)
If we have to shine should ask the Lord to make us shine. It is not diminishing in sparkling but increasing. Shining more and more unto the perfect day. This is the light we’re meant to reflect as a “city on a hill”. Are we reflecting the Light, or has our light dimmed?
Step in to Shine for the Lord more and more till we reach the city where there is neither sun nor moon but the Lamb is its light.
