Walk Of Life – Day 01, October 2021 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs – Opt for!

Opt for the fear of the Lord

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. – Proverbs 1: 7

Throughout the month of September our Lord helped us to step in into different walk of life under the wings of God Almighty. The month of October let us allow God to speak through what should be opted for.

Today’s topic is opt for the fear of the Lord. We human beings, knowingly or unknowingly are driven with many kinds of fear. Fear of insects, fear of thunder and lightening, fear of the future, fear of darkness, fear of death, fear of higher authorities, fear of heights and the list gets added on. All these fears drains our energy, drains our spirit and makes us exhausted. But it is only the fear of the Lord that helps us to create a happy living.

When we opt for the fear of the Lord all the other fears drives far away from us. When we fear Him we become eligible to inherit all the promises that says “FEAR NOT”. What a great assurance it is that we can remain without any fear in this world when we fear Him.

Job 5:23 says For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you. Is this not amazing? When we fear the Lord and give reverence to Him he makes all the other creatures even that which is unruly and wild to be at peace with us.

Matthew 6:34 says “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”. This verse is quite easy to quote but some where down the line we tend to think a lot and worry about our future. Let us remind our self today that our Lord has promised us to take care of us even till our old age.

Colossians 1:13 says “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.” and so this is very obvious that we the children of light should not be afraid of darkness.

It is indeed very very easy for others to read the verse that says “Oh, Death where is your victory and oh! grave, where is your sting.” But is it possible to say those who have lost their near and dear with much confidence. No it hurts. The fear of death haunts us. But our Lord assures again and again to come out of the fear of death as He has victoriously conquered the death for us.

It is the same with the fear of our higher authorities. Bible very clearly says, “Do not fear those who can kill only your body but fear the Lord who is able to kill both your soul and body in hell.”

On the other hand when we opt to fear the Lord there is nothing we will want or desire. “O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him (Psalm 34). It is also known that those who fear the Lord know that His mercy endures forever (Psalm 118 v4).

If we are truly looking for the secrets of the Lord God, then it begins with fearing Him. I know the secrets of the Lord because I fear Him. And because of this, He has shown me His covenant, which I have entered. It starts when we gain wisdom and depart from evil, we do that based on the fear and reverence of the Most High. From this His covenant will be shown to us so that we can enter into it and be known of Him.

God bless you today, stay in the Lord Jesus and pray for strength, faith, and wisdom; all in the name of Jesus. Amen
