Walk Of Life – Day 05, January 2021 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs – Enter
Enter, Listening To The Voice Of Teachers and Instructors
I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me!- Proverbs 5:13
I really like to thank my teachers and instructors who taught me and instructed me the way that I should follow. Both the subject teachers and my spiritual teachers they had a lot of concern on me and has done a lot to shape and mould my life. I used to wonder what bothered them to intervene in my life. Why did they took concern on me? Oh I owe a lot to my Sunday school teachers. They were so determined that I should be saved. Repeatedly they shared the gospel and they made sure that I Walk in the way pleasing the Lord. Now me being a teacher by profession and a Sunday school Teacher by His calling very well understand the concern and the dedication that my teachers had on me is very high than I have on my students now.
Today’s portion says “I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me” and the consequences of them are being on the verge of total ruin in the midst of assembly and congregation. What a pathetic situation! It’s a total ruin. Let us not enter into this new year with this kind of disobedience.
Let us recall the instructions that we have failed to follow and also the blessings that we have enjoyed because of following the instructions. Every instruction counts. Our Lord is our best teacher. He has promised “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go”. How many times we have neglected the counsel of our Lord and His instructions. Isaiah 30:21 very clearly says “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Even after hearing His voice have we obeyed Him at all times. I accept before all the readers that I haven’t obeyed Him and I have faced utter ruin in my life because of my disobedience. I was reading my daily portion and very clearly God spoke to me and warned me not to proceed with the decision that I have taken to do on that day. But I considered it very prior to please the person to whom I have vowed. I accept that was an utter ruin. Once if I would have considered about the warning given by my Lord, The Best teacher I would have spared my possessions.
Every parent is also a teacher. They are their children’s first and most impactful teachers for they lay down principles for life. This is what Paul was saying in Ephesians 6:1-3 when he was writing, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land. That is a promise from God…a longer life is the effect and obedience to God is the cause.
The ultimate teacher is the Holy Spirit for Jesus said that “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come” (John 16:13) and that “the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you” (John 14:26)
