Walk Of Life – Day 4, July 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms
Psalm 2 is a warning given to everyone who takes the name of the Lord in vain. This speaks about the glorious sovereignty of our Lord.
Verse 4 says “That He who sits in the heaven shall Laugh” Our Lord who watches all the craftiness of the earthly kings and authorities who are taking a stand to stand against Lord Jesus Christ and His children. He will be laughing. For ages many tried to destroy God’s children, God’s word but the more faster they worked more faster the glory of the Lord spread faster. and the latter part of the same verse says The Lord shall hold them in derision
A famous example of an opponent of Christianity was the Roman Emperor Diocletian (reigning A.D. 284-305). He was such a determined enemy of Christians that he persecuted the church mercilessly, and fancied that he had defeated Christianity. He ordered to make a medal with this inscription:
“The name of Christianity being extinguished.”
Diocletian had also set up two monuments on the frontier of his empire with these inscriptions:
i) Diocletian Jovian Maximian Herculeus Caesares Augusti for having extended the Roman Empire in the east and the west and for having extinguished the name of Christians who brought the Republic to ruin
ii) Diocletian Jovian Maximian Herculeus Caesares Augusti for having everywhere abolished the superstition of Christ for having extended the worship of the gods
iii. Diocletian is dead and gone, a footnote on the pages of history. The fame and glory of Jesus Christ is spread over all the earth.
God laughs in heaven, but He doesn’t remain inactive. He laughs, but He doesn’t only laugh. Before He acts against defiant mankind, He first speaks to rebellious humanity.
V 10-12 says
Now therefore, be wise, O kings;
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear,
And rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest He be angry,
And you perish in the way,
When His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
a. Be wise, O kings: After the words of warning from the LORD’s Anointed, the psalmist counsels the kings of the earth to give up their foolish defiance of the LORD.
b. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling: The psalmist calls the kings of the earth to surrender to God, giving Him proper reverence. In this submitted, surrendered place they can rejoice – yet with appropriate trembling.
Wise men obey Him! Wise kings rule, aware of God’s sovereignty and Christ’s authority. Our only hope is, serving the Lord with fear.
He has absolute dominion over the whole human race. Our lives find good purpose, only in submission to Him. He is the King in Zion, promised by God, the head of the church – the only Savior.
Rulers, Dictators and Terrorists stand defeated.
It may appear they enjoy victory, but that’s only a temporary perception. They cannot win!! Their only redemption is to repent; to serve the Lord with fear and to kiss the hand of the One they now hate.
And so: “Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him”
