Walk Of Life – Day 11, July 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms

Psalm 9 – God Our Righteous Judge

It is always a great strength to have someone to speak for us. Many a times, we find it very frustrating as well as troublesome to explain our side of the story. However, when somebody who has power or is strong comes to speak for us, we feel much relieved. In our lives, we may be accused from different sources in different circumstances, but the common accuser is Satan who bears many complaints against us. We need not worry about him as our Lord Jesus Christ maintains our rights and our causes. Having this courage of knowing this verse we easily claim the Lord Jesus Christ as our judge in various circumstances such as when we have an argument in family, with fellow believers, with our colleagues who do not know Christ. We often say,” God will judge between us and let you know who is right!” as a concluding statement.

Is it just because you are ‘born-again’, child of God, that you think God is going to give you a ‘Good Conduct’ all the time even though you err? No, it is not so. To obtain a ‘Good Conduct’ from God we ought to know what are the parameters by which He judges us. In verse 8 we read that God judges in righteousness and uprightness. When you make God your judge, examine yourself if your cause is upright and also if it is righteous. If you fail to meet the parameters by which God judges, then it is a wonderful opportunity for you to correct yourself and stay in peace with everyone, and more special in the sight of the Lord. On the contrary, if you try to push God to perform something against His nature, that is righteous and upright, you will never succeed, you are deemed to fail. Many youngsters do this with an ease these days, putting up wrong qualifications, false work experiences in their resume to obtain a job they long for. The way they have chosen is crooked and their prayers be like,” Lord, please clear my way to get this job at any cost. Work on my behalf. You are my judge, plead my cause.” Not just that, but also in family or fellowship matters, though the conscience in us repeatedly tell us that we might be wrong, we shut that voice and give a lot of freedom for our ego and pride to function and seek for Lord’s judgment to be in our favor, which can never happen.

There can be times when you are truly being accused for something that you have not done. It is at that times that you encourage yourself by 10th verse of the 9th chapter which says,” Lord, thou hast not forsaken them that seek thee.” You might be having the experiences where people refuse to hear what you have to say. They might be giving you a deaf ear and still accuse you even after having all the proofs of you being innocent. Do not worry. My dear friend, verse 18 says,” … needy shall not always be forgotten: the expectation of the poor shall not perish forever.” When you are upright and righteous, there is nothing to fear: for our righteous God judges in uprightness and in righteousness. He will never forsake them that seek Him.
