Walk Of Life- Day 14, July 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms.

Psalm 12.Lord, the deliverer of the oppressed

Psalm 12 is one of the psalms of King David in which he asks the LORD to help him in his journey amongst people who are ungodly and unfaithful. King David knew the state of the people with whom he lived, knowing so, he did not choose to sit quiet being far from the, or, he did not choose to join them, but he choose to seek god’s help knowing the oppression these ungodly and unfaithful people caused to the needy.

Was not David’s heart like that of God’s? We read David’s prayer for help and we also read about the nature of God in verse 5. We learn that our God’s hearts moves for the oppressed and needy. He will surely set them in safety as He promised. How are our hearts today? Are we concerned about the people around us those who are being exploited and oppressed? There could be three paths on which a believer can see himself/ herself. One could either be on the extreme of not caring what is happening with others, they are just concerned about their own wellbeing. Or the other extreme of joining themselves with those who oppress just looking how fascinating it is to have the short term sadistic pleasure. The true follower of Christ whose heart is like David’s and as God’s, seeks God’s help for the people that suffer.

How can we get such a pure heart? You call a vessel pure when it is thoroughly washed and filled with pure material. Though you clean a vessel a hundred times and still fill it with dung, you will not call the vessel pure. So, it is by what you fill yourselves with; that makes you pure. Being washed in the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and filling your hearts with His pure words, will surely make your heart move just like the God’s heart. The Lord who calls David ‘a man after His own heart’ loves to call you by the same name, but all you require to do is to have a heart of Christ.
