Walk Of Life – Day 15, August 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms
The Lord – My Hiding Place
Psalm 32: 7: Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
How often we want to run away and hide somewhere from the confusion and the storms around us. How many times have you thought only if I can just quietly hide so no one would trouble me. I have many times longed to become invisible thinking of all those magic potions in fantasy tales. It is so comforting to know that I have a hiding place and that a very safe one. The devil cannot come near, death cannot harm me, nothing can attack me when I am safe in that hiding place.
- He is a safe hiding place – Isaiah 32:2 says He is a shelter from the storm. In Psalm 31:20, it says He will hide us from the plots of men and from the scourge of the tongue.
- He is a sure hiding place – Psalm 27: 5 says “For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock” There is no ambiguity or uncertainty. For sure, He WILL hide me
- He is a comfortable hiding place – In Mathew 23: 37, the Lord Jesus says “How often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings.” Imagine the chicken hiding under the hen’s wings – the safest, most secure and also the most comfortable place!
- He is a strong hiding place – Psalm 91:1 – “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty” – He is the Most High God. If we were to hide in the palace of a great king when in trouble, would you not feel more secure? He is God Almighty, all-powerful, the creator of heaven and earth, if the Lord is for us, who can be against us?
- He is a communing hiding place – O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, in the crannies of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice, for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely” Song of Solomon 2:14. You are not hiding in a hard rock. You are hiding under the wings of the Living and True God who speaks to you and desires that you speak with Him.
Whatever be the storm, the battle, the opposition, I hide secure under the everlasting arms. He will protect me, take care of me, and love me forever. Particularly love this song:
“Hide me now Under Your wings
Cover me Within Your mighty hand
Cover me Within Your mighty hand
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still, know You are God
I will soar with You above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still, know You are God
Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know His power
In quietness and trust
In Christ alone
Know His power
In quietness and trust
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still, know You are God”
I will soar with you above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still, know You are God”
