Walk Of Life – Day 17, August 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms
The Lord Our Deliverer
Psalm 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.
This is a psalm of David written when he acted insane before King Achish fearing he will be identified and killed. This psalm is an acrostic, a very special kind of song with starting from A to Z of the Hebrew alphabet. Each sentence would start with a successive letter and these are very skilled literary forms of art. The psalmist acknowledges that he would bless the Lord at all times. This is more easier said than done. It is easy to praise God when all is well but when something goes amiss, we become like Job’s wife “Curse God and die” That is our nature, we cannot praise God in difficulty, we only begin wondering why the Lord allowed so much of sorrow. He gives more grace and carries us through in the toughest of storms so hold fast and thank Him and adore Him because He will carry you through.
No matter how many thorns are there in your life, the Lord has promised that He will carry you through. He will not remove the storm but He will stay with you through it and grant you the peace and joy that only He can. Another striking verse is “the young lions lack and suffer hunger but they that seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing” What a joy and solace this thought should bring. The Lord will never let us lack any good thing. He will provide, He will protect, He will sustain. Hold on, cling on to the everlasting arms.
“God’s goodness is a major headline in the Bible! Psalm 34:8 says, “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” The heart of God is unblemished. If God were only mighty, we would salute him. But since he is merciful and mighty, we can approach him. No wonder the psalmist invited, “Taste and see that the LORD is good.”
A glimpse of God’s goodness changes us. God’s unrivaled goodness undergirds everything else we can say about prayer. If he is like us, only slightly stronger, then why pray? If he grows weary, then why pray? If he has limitations, then you might as well pray to the Wizard of Oz. However if God is at once Father and Creator, holy—unlike us—and high above us, then we, at any point, are only a prayer away from help!” – Max Lucado.
Yes He is only a prayer away. He is your stronghold, your help in time of trouble, your deliverer. he will never let you be ashamed. He will never allow His child to lack any good thing. He is faithful and true.
