Walk Of Life – Day 27, August 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms
Psalm 44
The Lord who fights our battles
They did not conquer the land with their swords; it was not their own strong arm that gave them victory . It was your right hand and strong arm and the blinding light from your face that helped them, for you loved them. Psalm 44:3
In our day-to-day life, we try to win the battles on our own and also we tend to look back and sometimes pat ourselves for our achievements, and many mistakes in our past life could be avoided if we rely on the strength of God.
As we see in the book of Exodus, God had brought the Israelites out with His strong hand, righteous hand, and an outstretched arm. (Exodus 13:9) Let it remind you always to recite this teaching of the Lord: ‘With a strong hand, the Lord rescued you from Egypt.’. The Israelites are supposed to remind themselves of this great truth. While they were coming out of the Egypt they sang this song of deliverance they sang.. Exodus 15:6 “Your right hand, O lord, is glorious in power. Your right hand, O Lord, smashes the enemy.” After sometime we see in Exodus 32:1 that the people were tired of waiting for Moses their leader whom God had appointed to bring out the Israelites from the land of Egypt. Exodus 32:1 When the people saw how long it was taking Moses to come back down the mountain, they gathered around Aaron, “Come on,” they said “make us some gods who can lead us.”
At times, we are also in the pathway of waiting for a miracle for a breakthrough or to receive God’s clear instruction or waiting for marriage, whatever be the waiting period for, we need to remind ourselves the strength of God in the past how he had saved us how he had led us with His strong and righteous right hand. The Israelites, instead of reminding themselves during their wait for Moses who had gone to meet the Lord on the mountain, made a golden calf…a god for themselves with the gold they got.
The situations in life may bring us to a point of taking a U-turn from God, but hold on, remember the promises of God and sing praises to God in the pathway of waiting. Exodus 32:7 The Lord told Moses, “Quick! Go down the mountain! Your people whom you brought from the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves. How quickly they have turned away from the way I commanded them to live. They are saying, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.’ How terrible it is to forget the great and mighty acts they have seen or heard from their parents. They corrupted themselves, they did not remember the strength of God.
May we never deny the power of God in our life and His strength in all our situations, apply God’s word, His promises, and He will bring us out victoriously with His awesome power and we grow in His strength day by day. You hold your peace, He will fight your battles, The Battle is the Lord’s.
