Walk Of Life – Day 12, October 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms.

Psalm 70

“O God : thou art my help and my deliverer.”

This psalm is written by King David. In this psalm we learn how King David prays to God to come for his help and deliver him without any delay. David, a valiant man, who being a lad tackled lion and bear all alone to save his flock from them, and also killed the giant goliath who mocked Israel with sling and stone, did not choose to depend on the past victories. However, he knew the source of the victories, on each victory he got to know the greatness of God deeper and deeper. His victories could have made anyone confident in themselves, that is, self-confident, but in David’s case, he became God-confident upon every victory.

In our spiritual walk there is a thing that we ought to learn as a believer and have it as our ground rule, which is, honoring God by humbly giving Him all the glory that He alone deserves. Small achievements in our lives, for example: an answered prayer, could puff us up, if we do not acknowledge the work of the Lord. Whatever success that happens in our lives is not due to our own strength. When a man like David choose not to depend on himself, though he has many victories in his pocket, who are we? What makes us more confident to ignore seeking God’s help in doing things?

We go to God in prayer, but when and why? Most of the times, if not many of us, there would be few, who either go to God to inform Him as a formality that there is a problem which they are going to tackle and all they want from God is to help them when they need Him. The other sect of people in this category, when they feel that the issue is too bigger for them to solve or handle.

These were never the options David had. Either the trouble be smaller or bigger, David’s first resort is the Lord. He knew the Lord as his help and deliverer. He knew that all that he has in his achievement list, is not through him, but only thought Christ Jesus.

Dear friend, how long have you been toiling to fight your battles all alone, depending on your strengths and wisdom? Are you vexed and tired? Come to the Lord Jesus. He is our help and deliverer. Know Him to be victorious.
