Walk OF Life – Day 10, December 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms

Psalm 106

They forgot God their Savior, Who had done great things in Egypt,- Psalm 106:21

This entire psalm tells about the way our forefathers were led miraculously by the everlasting Father through the wilderness. Moreover the psalmist explains about the way they have forsaken and forgotten all the good things that our Lord has done for them. They need not struggle to trust this awesome God as every miracle happened in front of their eyes. Starting from the plagues that was demonstrated to the King Pharaoh, the slain of the first born, the way the red sea was split, the way Pharaoh and his chariots was covered in the depths of the sea, the way they walked through the wilderness with the provision sent from above with clear instructions. Inspite of having this first hand experience they denied His tender mercies. They have forgotten Him. They neither remembered His goodness nor were thankful to Him. They were experts in murmuring and talking against the Lord.

I was wondering if we would have seen the awesomeness of God directly as our forefathers did would we have done like what they did. Oh yes, we would. As all that they experienced were physical miracles and nothing pertaining to the spiritual realm. There was no relationship or personal encounter with God except a handful. Unto us a child was born and unto us a son was given. Unto us is salvation and Unto us is that intimacy with the creator. They did not have the privillege to call the Lord as Abba Father but we do. He has promised us the eternal life. Having given the gift of salvation and all other spiritual experiences let us recollect how is our state of mind. Are we filled with the spirit of gratitude and trust?

In the movie ten commandments Moses tells a dialogue looking at the Israelite which goes like this “Ten times you have witnessed the mighty hands of God and still you don’t want to believe. This should not be our attitude. Our Lord should not be eagerly waiting for us to praise Him or we should not make Him feel grieved by the way we complain about life. Let us learn to look for the best in everything. Let us not forget even a single thing done by our Lord and let us always remember that our Lord is always hearing our cry. Just like the psalmist begins this psalm “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the people.” Let thanks giving be our pulse.
