A Joyful Mother!

Psalm 113.9 says  “He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

Here the phrase Joyful Mother attracts me the most and makes me think whether I am a joyful mother  just for some time or every single moment.  After becoming a mother, very soon our attention falls on the child and start worrying about the child’s growth, eating habits, studies, future, and many other changes that occur after the arrival of the baby.  Soon the joy is stolen away and worry takes precedence.

In this world of complete chaos doubt, fear, and anxiety our God is a never-changing God.  Like Hannah says in 1 Samuel 2.1 “My heart rejoiceth in the Lord; …because I rejoice in thy salvation.”  Hannah kept her petitions before the Lord and the Lord answered her and she rejoiced in Him. Our heart should always rejoice in the Lord our Saviour but humanly speaking, we tend to keep worrying about our children, forgetting that He who formed and made us has the ability to take care of us and our children when we completely submit to Him in Prayer.  Though we say we trust in the Lord, many a times we worry, we panic about our children

In Luke 1.41-48 “The babe in Elizabeth’s womb leaped in her womb…Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:  … (Mary’s babe) leaped in my womb for joy. And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord. And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour…henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.”

Our soul should magnify the Lord and our spirit should rejoice in Our God our Saviour.  When we as mothers speak among ourselves, we should encourage, strengthen and uplift each other. Here both Mary and Elizabeth blessed each other and were rejoicing in the Lord and along with them, their sons in their wombs.

Most of the time it is impossible to be nice to our kids (because of their disobedience) all the time we need God’s wisdom, patience, and joy. We need to exhibit the fruit of the Spirit especially patience and joy being the fruit of the spirit and it should become a part and parcel of our lives.  We should never forget that we are laying the foundation for a Godly generation in years to come.  And we are the first teachers to our kids. Our kids will follow in our footsteps. It is not what you speak, but the child watches your every action and acts accordingly. May the joy of the Lord abound in us always.

For the Joy of the Lord is my strength.  Nehemiah 8:10

Delight Yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37.4

Our Kids like us to see us joyful and happy and you know it gives them energy and they are also happy and it reflects on them.  Things may be falling apart but still seek His grace and show the love of Christ in every moment, bearing in mind we are bringing up a godly generation.   Drawing strength from the Lord our maker and giver of all things lets get our hearts desires from the LORD.  May our good Lord help us to be Joyful Mothers all throughout our lives and may we help other mothers to be so.

Are you praying for your children that they should know the Lord and be saved and grow spiritually?

Do you believe that your prayers towards your children is an asset and God will work in His time?
