Walk Of Life – Day 01, December 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms

Psalm 100 – Give Thanks

As we are entering the last month of this year, one need to take time to look back on how the Lord has carried you past eleven months through all the challenges you have faced. This psalm of thanksgiving seems to fit the advent season. Here the psalmist is inviting the whole earth to know and praise God with a thankful heart.

Invitation

◾ The psalmist invites the nations of the earth to know the Lord and give a shout of praise to the Lord, like how Indians would hail Christ in hindi language, “Yishuv Masih Ki Jai”.
◾ He also invites them to serve the Lord with gladness and come into his presence singing songs of praise.

Answer to Why?

◾ The whole nations of the earth should praise God because He has opened our mind to the truth so that we can recognize that He is God and our Creator.
◾ In his grace, He has chosen us to be his people and He cares and provides their needs like a shepherd.
◾ He is a good God who has plans for our life to give us hope and a future.
◾ He is a merciful and forgiving God.
◾ Those who walk in his ways will be established forever.

Answers to Where?

◾ Go to the temple of God and praise and bless him publicly.
◾ The psalmist invites all the nations prophetically to come and serve God, it’s like suddenly the gates of the sanctuary is opened not just for the Jews but for everyone.
◾ Under the New Covenant, not only are the gates and courts open, but even the way to the Holy of Holies is thrown open.

Praise and worship is all one will do when Lord Jesus comes back to take those who remain faithful to him to heaven. Just imagine how glorious will be that day when the everlasting gates of heaven will make way for us to enter disclosing the view to those courts above, into which the children of the resurrection will enter to dwell with angels and archangels and sing praises of our Saviour forevermore.
