Walk Of Life – Day 01, March 2022 – MARCH With The Words Of Jesus Christ
March to fulfill all righteousness
But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. – Matthew 3:15
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, we have stepped in to the third month of the year 2022 and it is His mercies that we are alive. The month of March there is a calling for all of us to learn to March. March means to walk in an orderly manner with a regular measured tread. We would have been the disciples of Christ following Him for many number of years but there is a question to be asked. Are we following Him as how He wants us to follow? Is it done with sincerity and perfection? Let us analyse. Our Lord is ready to teach and remind us about the forgotten lessons. Let us sit at His feet very eagerly to learn from Him through the words that our LORD JESUS CHRIST HAS SPOKEN while He was on the phase of this earth.
From the first gospel written by Matthew, the tax collector in 3:15 the first words of our Lord Jesus Christ is mentioned and it connects with the baptism of Jesus Christ by John, the baptist. Many were getting baptized by John and in the line our lord Jesus also comes forward to take baptism. John on seeing Him refuses to give baptism considering him unworthy but our Lord insists to give Him baptism by saying the words of our meditation.
What reason did Jesus give for being baptized? To fulfill all righteousness.)
What do you think it means that Jesus was baptized “to fulfill all righteousness”?
By obeying in the waters of Baptism Jesus exhibited the following.
- He humbled himself before the Father.
He witnessed to the Father that He would obey His commandments.
- He showed the children of men the gate by which they can enter the celestial kingdom.
He set an example for us.
How does Jesus Christ’s baptism provide an example of what it means to be righteous?
Righteousness includes humbly conforming to the will of the Father.
Righteousness includes covenanting with the Father to obey His commandments.
Righteousness includes receiving the ordinances of salvation.
Righteousness includes following the example set by Jesus Christ.
“As we follow the example of Jesus, we, too, demonstrate that we will repent and be obedient in keeping the commandments of our Father in Heaven. We humble ourselves with a broken heart and a contrite spirit as we recognize our sins and seek forgiveness of our trespasses. We covenant that we are willing to take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ and always remember Him. …
The New Testament tells us that we died to self when we were saved. The Holy Spirit regenerated us (Titus 3:5). We died to sin and have become slaves to righteousness (Romans 6:7, 18, 20). He made us a new creation (Galatians 6:15). We are a new self (Ephesians 4:24; Colossians 3:10).
Conclusion:
Grant Osborne summarizes the meaning of the phrase “to fulfill all righteousness” with this comment,
In short, he “fills to the full” the “right” requirement of God in “the Old Testament pattern and prediction of the Messiah.” He does not need to repent, but by submitting to baptism Jesus begins His messianic work by identifying with the human need and providing the means by which it can be accomplished.”
Can we refresh the purpose of our baptism? Let us be rally dead to the world and be quickened for Him fulfilling His righteousness.
