Walk Of Life – Day 02, January 2023 – Thoughts From The Book Of Psalms.
Psalm 112
Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, Who delights greatly in His commandments.- Psalm 112:1
Dear Brothers and Sisters, very joyful to connect with you all in this New Year 2023. The psalm taken for today’s meditation is 112 and the title of the Psalm is The Blessed State of the Righteous.
The psalm begins with the word BLESSED and when I read that word there was a great joy to know that I’m called as Blessed by my heavenly Father. And that word is not inherited as such.
There are many titles like Philanthropist referring to a person who gives a lot, Veteran which can be earned by being in the same field or pioneer by being the first in a particular field. And to be Blessed this psalm gives us the guidelines to be followed.
1. Fear the Lord (v1)
2. Delight greatly in His commandments (v1)
3. Must be gracious, Full of compassion and Righteous (v4)
5. Must deal graciously and must lend (v5)
6. Guide all affairs with discretion (v5)
7. Must give to the poor (v9)
When all the above is followed the results will be as follows.
1. Descendants will be mighty on earth; and generation will be blessed. (v2)
2. Wealth and riches will be in his house (V3)
3. His righteousness will endure forever.(V3)
4. He will never be shaken. (V6)
5. He will be in everlasting remembrance (V6)
6. He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord (V7)
7. He will not be afraid (V8)
8. His righteousness endures forever, His horn will be exalted with honor (V9)
9. The wicked will see it and be grieved; He will gnash his teeth and melt away; The desire of the wicked shall perish (V10)
My dear brothers and sisters can we make the resolution of this year to be called as Blessed. The steps to be followed or the direction to take is not a rough one though. May our Lord be with us as we begin our journey trusting the Lord as His light always shines brightly however the darkness is.
“When all the flashes of sensual pleasure are quite extinct, when all the flowers of secular glory are withered away; when all earthly treasures are buried in darkness; when this world, and all the fashion of it, are utterly vanished and gone, the bountiful man’s state will be still firm and flourishing, and ‘his righteousness shall endure for ever.’” (Barrow, cited in Spurgeon)
