Walk Of Life – Day 02, March 2022 – March With The Words Of Jesus Christ

March To Live

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ – Matthew 4:4

This is the answer given by our Lord Jesus Christ to Satan, the tempter when he understood that Lord Jesus is hungry and weak after a fast for forty days. Even with us the adversary Satan tries to make use of the situations and circumstances and just dives in to yield to his plans.

To elaborate this with an example when the care and attention gets reduced at home automatically if someone from outside gives a little affection and care it is normal that the comfort zone with that person becomes more. Wife who is not treated or cared well at home or ignored at home by her husband tends to get attached with the person who inquires about her and care for her. The same is with the husbands as well. There are many who voluntarily deceive others knowing their emotional weakness which results in disloyalty among the spouse. Youngsters who easily get addicted to bad habits are those who have a disturbed home atmosphere, less parental care, single parents and so. It’s very easy for such children to be diverted or easily convinced.

That is the exact trick which Satan has tried to do on our Lord Jesus Christ. Having known well that he is hungry and weak and asks Him “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

The immediate response that our Lord Jesus Christ gave is “Man shall not leave by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Is it not the same for us. We live by the word of God.

For us the Bible is God’s revelation of His ways to your heart. This is how God talks to us. “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and abideth forever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: but the Word of the Lord endureth forever. And this is the Word which by the gospel is preached unto you” (I Pet. 1:23-25).

The use of the memorized Word can stop Satan at any time. No doubt this is the reason the Psalmist wrote, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against thee”(Psalm 119:11). Memorize it if you want victory over temptation. The Holy Spirit will bring it to your mind as you need it.

The Apostle Paul had it right when he said, “For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain” (Phil. 1:21). To live a deeper life with our Lord, one must take time to eat the Word. Remember Jeremiah the prophet said, “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O Lord God of hosts” (Jer. 15:16). We too are called by His name but we do not take time to eat the Word. It is vital that we take special time every day to apply the Word of God to our lives that we might be spiritually strong. To be filled with the Word of God is another way of saying be filled with the Spirit. Actually a person is filled with the Spirit in direct proportion to how much he is controlled by the Word of God.

Living by every word that proceeds out from the mouth of God is not easy. It is tough and challenging. However, it comes with GREAT rewards – rewards for both today and for the life to come. At the end of the day, living by God’s word is the best way to live this life. God’s word is perfect, and you can’t improve something that is already perfect.

Hence, let us march to live by His word.
