Walk Of Life – Day 04, November 2021 – Give Thanks Unto The Lord
Give Thanks Unto The Lord For We Are His Sheep
For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand. – Psalm 95:7
One of the very first verse that most of us would have memorized is Psalms 23 which portrays God as our shepherd who feeds us with green pastures and leads us beside still waters. So true that all through the days of our life our Lord has been feeding us. I testify that He has not made me to await for any meal. So wonderfully and amazingly He feeds His children. And above all the scripture says “All we like sheep have gone astray and have come short of the glory of God.” and our shepherd brought us back into the fold. As the lyrics of a famous song goes like this
In tenderness He sought me,
Weary and sick with sin,
And on His shoulders brought me
Into His flock again.
While angels in His presence sang
Until the courts of heaven rang. Oh, the love that sought me!
Oh, the blood that bought me!
Oh, the grace that brought me to the flock,
Wondrous grace that brought me to the flock!
We were exactly that one sheep who went far away from the fold out of the hundred sheep and our Shepherd Lord Jesus Christ came in search of us through the valleys, and mountains wandered lonely in the streets to find us.
There were ninety and nine that safely lay In the shelter of the flock,
But one was out on the hills away, Far off in the cold and dark;
Away on the mountains wild and bare, Away from the tender Shepherd’s care.
“Lord, Thou hast here Thy ninety and nine; Are they not enough for Thee?”
But the Shepherd made answer: “This of Mine Has wandered away from Me;
And although the road be rough and steep, I go to the desert to find My sheep.”
But none of the ransomed ever knew How deep were the waters crossed;
Nor how dark was the night which the Lord passed through Ere He found His sheep that was lost.
Out in the bleak desert He heard its cry— All bleeding and helpless, and ready to die.
“Lord, whence are those blood-drops all the way That mark out the mountain’s track?”
“They were shed for one who had gone astray Ere the Shepherd could bring him back.”
“Lord, whence are Thy hands so rent and torn?” “They’re pierced tonight by many a thorn.”
And all through the mountains, thunder-riven, And up from the rocky steep,
There arose a cry to the gate of heaven, “Rejoice! I have found My sheep!”
And the angels echoed around the throne, “Rejoice, for the Lord brings back His own!”
There was a great rejoicing when the Lord brought back His own. What a great shepherd who did not just feed us but also brought back to His fold when we wandered away from His Presence. Give thanks unto the Lord For He is our shepherd.
