Walk of Life – Day 04, October 2020 – Thoughts From The Book of Proverbs
Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. Proverbs4:15 (KJV)
Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins rose again on the third day victorious from the grave. The power of His resurrection has made all things new. Sacrifices are needed no more for our sins and trespasses. He had once for all became a ransom for our sins and for all the generations to come and whoever believes in Christ becomes a new creation and the old things are passed away. After being made as the sons and daughters of Lord Jesus Christ we are not taken to a new place but are in the midst of same situations, people and place. Our heart, mind and soul have accepted and believed in Jesus Christ to be the Lord of our heart and to rule over us, once all our sins are truly confessed from the bottom of our heart. A package of special blessings are awaiting for the new believer. A new heart, new joy, new revelation of the word of God, fresh understanding of Godly things, Godly wisdom, purity and holiness, sensitive conscience, new attitude, our bad company of friends change, our desires change, there will be a thirst for God to read the Word of God more and spend time with God, The Holy Spirit who is our helper is given to us leading us afresh and we are in enthusiasm to follow and proclaim this new experience.
Have you got that first love for Christ is it the same bubbling joy or a declining joy and a worn out spirit. The sin and temptations or trials, gradually diminishes the first love that we had for our God, make the covenant made with the Lord of our life to be forgotten, neglecting the word of God and grieving the Holy Spirit. The Bible says that disobedience is sin. There is no excuse to be made. Lord Jesus Christ loves a sinner but not sin. The Holy Spirit, who is the helper cannot dwell where there is sin.
The verse Proverbs 4: 13-15 says, Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
In newness of our life we need to keep ourselves away from the wicked people and those who commit sin. There are different ideas like they will be changed with our words, but mostly the vice versa happens. Few rotten apples very soon spoils the other apples along with it in the same basket. Lord Jesus had separated us from the pattern of this world to be as lights. Do not be deceived. It happens with believers as well.
so let us not be discouraged but instead lead an exemplary life. The word of God says do not enter that path or go in their(evil) way, the instruction is to avoid it so not even go by it take a U-turn from it and go away when you know its going to spoil your spiritual life.
What many people do is that they think they are strong enough, and they have prayed enough to withstand temptation having a strong mind walking by sin or watch sin from afar, depending on their own strength. Joseph ran away avoided from sin for which he was not awarded but was put in prison unjustly still he bore the pain and never left God who brought him out of the pit.
Never look at the interests of others but be mindful of the interest of God for you. Do you have the first love for God? Are you showing your strength by walking beside sin, saying ‘it’s ok’ and compromising a little. Remember every time we commit sin we crown our Lord Jesus Christ with thorns.
Beware! A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump Galatians 5:9. Avoid sin, hate sin and even its traces. The days are evil and our Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon to reward us according to our deeds.
