JESUS CHRIST – THE DELIVERER

And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath. (I Thessalonians 1:10)

During natural calamities and accidents, we hear of many stories of how people were rescued from very difficult situations, circumstances where it would just not have been possible for them to survive and how people risked their lives to rescue them from those situations. This deliverer would always be an hero for them who rescued them from death. We have such a deliverer, the Lord Jesus Christ who delivered us from the clutches of sin through His great sacrifice on the cross of Calvary. He not only delivered us from sin but He is also able to save us to the very uttermost and present us faultless in the presence of His father.

The Lord Jesus delivers from loneliness John 5:1-9

The story of this paralytic of 38 years is an example of how God helped a lonely person. Everyone else had friends who would carry them to the pool so that they may be healed but this man waited for years and years and had no one. Although there were so many people around him, he was lonely and all alone. Christ healed Him and also His loneliness. He showed that He cared.

The Lord Jesus delivers from sickness (Luke 4:38-41)

Once, when Jesus visited Peter’s home, Peter’s mother-in-law was sick with a high fever. The Scripture tells us that Jesus “rebuked the fever, and it left her, and immediately she rose and began to serve them.”

Generally when we just recover, we do not have enough strength to do work. But the Lord healed Peter’s mother-in-law and she was immediately able to minister to them. The Lord can heal you wholly and completely, both your physical and spiritual sickness.

I don’t know about you, but whenever I’ve been sick with a fever, I feel pretty wrung out even after the fever is gone. Jesus’ healing was so complete, so thorough, that the woman was immediately able to cook and serve. And the word spread quickly.

The Lord Jesus delivers from demons (Luke 4:33-36)

Demon possession still exists today and the Lord Jesus who is all-powerful delivers you from their power. In Luke 4:35 we read “Be quiet!” Jesus said sternly. “Come out of him!” Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.

The Lord Jesus delivers from the storms of life (Mark 4:35-41)

With Christ in the vessel, we can smile at the storm. Christ in the boat made all the difference. The disciples were disturbed but Jesus calmed the winds and the storms. Trials, difficulties, and tough times should never alarm you. Our Lord is able to rescue us from it all.

The Lord Jesus delivers from bondage (Acts 16:25-34)

When Paul and Silas were in prison, the Lord sent an earthquake and their chains were literally broken. This helped save the entire jailer’s family. You need not be in physical chains, emotional, mental, and spiritual bondage can be easily broken with the power of the Lord Jesus.

The Lord Jesus helps you overcomes Trials and Temptation (2 Peter 2:4-10)

Remember that the devil is a defeated foe. The Lord Jesus was victorious on the cross. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.

The Lord Jesus Saves us from physical danger (2 Corinthians 1:8-11)

The Lord watches over us as the apple of His eye. He protects, preserves, and takes care of us. Nothing happens in our life without His permission.

Prayer: Dear Lord, we praise you because you are our great deliverer. The Son of God came in the form of man to not only deliver me from the clutches of sin but also from death, hell, and destruction. I thank you because I have a risen Savior and I can always rest assured that you will deliver me and save me to the very uttermost.
