Desire Wisdom
Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” And call understanding your nearest kin – Proverbs 7:4
Vacations are over and everyone is getting ready for the new academic year. Vacational trips, summer camps, VBS classes, relatives house, should have the schedule for most of the students. and now June is the month to set things right. June is the time for discipline, the time to systematize our schedule and time to give a lot of work to our brain. Regular routines, new books, notebooks, stationary, water bottles and much more. With all that one thing is more important. To ask the Lord for wisdom. To have a desire for wisdom. Here the writer of the Proverbs says to Call wisdom as sister and understanding as nearest kin.
What does it mean to call wisdom your sister? It means to embrace her and make her near and dear to you (Pr 4:6-8; 8:17; Song 8:1). What does it mean to call understanding your kinswoman? It means to consider her a close confidant, dear companion, and faithful friend. Call unto wisdom today. Call her your sister. Call unto understanding today. Call her your kinswoman. Embrace the truth of God’s inspired word. Tremble before its every word, esteem every precept regarding every subject to be right, and hate every false way (Is 66:2; Ps 119:128).
There are many follies that surround you. If you want to escape or stay away from them you really need to have wisdom and understanding. You need them to study well and excel. You need them to receive other’s favor. You need them to discern and differentiate the right from wrong. You need them to do all the works with more diligence but the hardest truth is that we lack them. We need to ask for them. As the word of God says in James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom let them ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach it shall be given unto him.
Dearly beloved young brothers and sisters as your stepping into a new academic year embrace wisdom and understanding which is very much important to excel in this world.
