Walk Of Life – Day 07, May 2022 – Thoughts From The Words Of Jesus Christ
In His Time – Wedding at Cana
John 2: 4, 5: Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11
This is the first miracle of the Lord Jesus and a well-known one. We have been hearing from our childhood days and probably at many Christian weddings. Yet, God’s word is unique and refreshing and every time we look at it, the Lord has a special message of us.
“My hour has not yet come”…Just think of the urgency of the situation. You are at a wedding and biryani runs out and you tell someone who can help and they give you a reply as this…I would be really upset! For the Jews, wine symbolized joy and their weddings ran to several days. It very clearly seems that the family could not afford more wine and that Mary knew her Son could help. It is very much possible that the Lord Jesus had performed several miracles in the 30 years at home because otherwise she may not have been that confident. When she had a problem, she ran to Jesus and that is what the Lord shows us here. If you have a problem, if something is wrong, if you cannot manage alone, run to the Lord Jesus.
Now Jesus has His own style of working. He has His own clock. He candidly tells her my time is not come. Take heart my friend, you may be praying for something but remember His time has not yet come. He has the answer to your problem but the time is not right yet. He will answer abundantly so but you need to wait for His time. Mary, did not get frustrated, upset, irritated, she just told the servants “Whatever He tells you do it” She knew that His time is always perfect. He is never too late or too early and she had the strong firm faith that He would help. We do not know how much time transpired between the Lord Jesus being told there is no wine and Him telling the servants to fill the water pots with water. But through that waiting period, Mary was quiet and patient. And she instructed everyone concerned to quietly obey Him because she knew He would do the right thing at the right time.
The servants obeyed and the result was a transformation of water into wine. The Lord Jesus changes lives, changes hearts. He changes frowns into smiles, fear into hope, sorrow into joy, sin into grace, and death into life. He can change your life completely, a total transformation. The tasteless water became a drink that was tasty and brought a lot of joy.
Finally, He gives in abundance. He never asked how much wine you want. Six water pots hold 180 gallons of water so He made approximately 180 gallons of wine which is a large amount of wine. He is no debtor of persons. He will answer exceeding abundantly above all that you ask or think of. Look at the number of adjectives. He gives everything in abundance…eternal joy, peace, and happiness…more than you can ever ask for.
Hold on to this Jesus who makes everything beautiful in His time. His ways are perfect. He blesses in abundance…He is there for you no matter what.
