Walk Of Life – Day 08, January 2022 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs – Enter
Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. Proverbs 8:34
Enter, Hearing God’s voice Daily
I count this one of the greatest privileges as a child of God – hearing the voice of God. We all long to hear from certain people…these are people whom we highly revere and respect. When in trouble, in a difficult situation, in sickness, in sorrow, all of us long to hear the voice of that one special person and strangely you feel better and lighter. Through life, one such voice has been my dad’s and when he says, I am praying for you, it lightens the burden. But people do not live for ever on this earth and when they are gone, we long to hear that voice again…just once, even a dream works! but it never happens. However, there is one gentle precious voice, the voice of my Heavenly Father that stays for life and the life beyond.
“In sorrow He is my comfort, In trouble He is my stay, He tells me every care on Him to roll…”
In life’s journey, through the good and bad times, there is only one Voice I can trust, the voice of Jesus. Our friends, our siblings, our teachers, sometimes even our spouse or parents may fail us, give us incorrect advice, discourage us or not fulfil their word, but not so with the Lord. He will stand by me no matter what the situation, He will instruct, correct, direct, and lead in the right way.
It is up to me to watch and wait. We are too busy to make time for God but remember your life and your time is in His hands. The breath in your nostrils is His gift, let us enter this new year deciding to spend quality time at His feet. Every day, ask the Lord to speak through His Word. Listen and obey His voice. Hold on and claim the promises He gives you. Speak to the weary and downtrodden and be an encouragement to all in need. You cannot give if you do not receive from the Lord. Make it a habit to speak daily to the Lord and hear Him speaking daily to you. Write it down, keep it as a very special precious time, and you will cherish each moment for eternity.
“My Shepherd speaks, unto my weary heart
so His love into it He can impart.
He beckons me, to rest and know
not to worry but, to just let go.
He says my name, so I can hear
the words I long “I’m always here.”
He reassures, my every doubt
to trust in Him to work things out.
My Shepherd speaks, His voice I know . .
I follow it because the way He’ll show.”
Dear Lord, help me to wait at your feet to listen to your still small voice speaking to me. Help me to cling on to you no matter what.
