Walk of Life – Day 08, November 2021- Give Thanks Unto The Lord.
Give thanks in every situation.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
I heard about a God’S Servant who once went to an office on some work. The officer asked him,” How many children do you have?” The man replied,” I am blessed with no children.” How astonishing is his perspective regarding God’s blessings, isn’t it? Even during his lack, he managed to see and acknowledge the blessing of the Lord.
Giving thanks to the Lord in every situation is the will of God concerning us, and to do the will of God is the greatest privilege that we, as His children have. Is it very simple and easy as said, to be thanking the Lord at all times? No, it is not. Sometimes we have to go through the tough road, we become drained physically, emotionally and spiritually, even then we ought to thank the Lord.
There are people in history who have thanked the Lord despite tasting loss in their lives.
Job, even after he lost his wealth and very own children, he managed to say, “The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away.” (Job 1:21). Not just that, but he also gives a very valuable statement,” Shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?” Job 2:10.
David fasted and prayed for his ailing son. However, as soon as he got to know that his son was no more, he didn’t take a moment to lament, but he immediately prepared himself to worship the Lord. 2 Samuel 12.
Habakkuk tells in 3:17-18 “Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”
Dear brother/sister, what you went through or what you are going through this year might be painful with irreparable loss. However, inculcate the good habit of giving thanks to the Lord at all times. You can see great blessings in your life.
The Lord is faithful and all that He allows in our life is for our good. He loves us so much that He will never allow anything that will not benefit us. Love the words of this song and its so true that the potter knows the clay and we will be ever thankful to Him.
“I know you are going through the fire
Its getting hard to stand the heat
But even harder is the wondering
Is God’s hand still on me
Its lonely in the flames
When you’re counting days of pain
How much pressure it can take
How many times around the wheel
‘Til there’s submission to His will
He’s planned a beautiful design
But it’ll take some fire and time
Its gonna be okay
‘Cause the Potter knows the clay”
