Walk of Life – Day 11 – February 2022 – Thoughts from the Book of Proverbs – Love!
By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked. Proverbs 11:11 KJV
Love to be a blessing!
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry; Psalm 34:15
We see many upright people in the Bible, Job – upright in all the earth, Noah – righteous in all the generation, Esther – who obtained favor of the king, and so on.
We see these people of God who sacrificed so much for the Lord even their own lives, they lived upright lives and pleased the Lord. Queen Esther because of her sacrificial decision saved her people from a great destruction and wrath of the king.
Daniel chose to be blameless before God and he was very careful about even what he ate and ensured that it does not defile him. He purposed in his heart, and he stayed true to his decision with the help of God’s word and his fervent prayer life. Daniel prayed three times a day, he had godly friends who helped him and supported him to live a godly life. He never turned back; he stood for God even if it costed his life. God saved Daniel in the lion’s den and He also saved Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace.
Being upright is a choice that we make and the more we seek God’s help, the more GOD helps us to walk a faithful spiritual walk hand in hand with Jesus. When you stand by the Lord and his commandments and are faithful and obedient to His voice, the Lord helps us. We ought to love to please the Lord so that our cups would be first filled and then overflow to be a blessing.
Abraham pleaded with the Lord to spare the city of Sodom and Gomorrah, God protected Lot’s family because of the righteous man’s prayer, Abraham. Noah’s family was protected in the ark. Jonah was protected in the belly of the fish. Because of their earnest and just prayer, God protected them. Not only that because of Esther’s prayer, God protected the Jews. Our lives need to be pleasing to God so that we could be a blessing to our family first, then to the church, city, and the nation.
The Lord Jesus Christ spent his entire life being a blessing to many. His walk, his talk, his actions, everything blessed those around Him. He showed compassion to all. He healed the sick, He calmed the storm, He washed the feet of His disciples, and most of us, He sacrificed His life so that we, sinners, could be a blessing to many.
How can I be a blessing?
Pray – Do not just tell others that you would pray for them, but actually wrestle with God in prayer for souls, for the sick, for missionaries, for the church, for God’s people, and finally for our soul to be kept ready for His coming.
Meet a need – When you see someone in need, do not just say you would pray for them, but do something about it. Be sure to help others. Be kind, loving, and compassionate like Christ.
Be an encouragement – Do not go around criticizing people, instead encourage. A kind encouraging word is like medicine to the soul.
Be thoughtful – Whether it is for those close to you or someone in need, make them feel loved and special. Do thoughtful things that they will feel special of themselves,
Speak kind words – Make it a habit to be loving and kind. It is normal to lose your temper but be quick to forgive and forget. Except we become like little children, we can never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Dear Lord, please set right my life so that I may be a blessing to my family and society. Like David prayed, may my cup be full and overflow. I need more of your spirit Lord, more love, and more power to do thy will. In Jesus name, Amen.
May the Lord bless us to be a blessing to many.
