Walk Of Life – Day 11, October 2020 Thoughts From The Book of Proverbs.

The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself. Proverbs 11:25

We are indeed surrounded by cloud of witnesses both in the word of God, amidst our believers and much more in the secular world and yes, this verse has been true to everyone. There are in numerous testimonies that we have already heard and known. Let us just recollect the same thoughts so that our Lord will encourage us to be generous.

People who gave more than they have asked for: –
Bezalel and Oholiab and every able man in whom the Lord has put ability, every one whose heart stirred him up to come to do the work received from Moses all the free will offering which the people of Israel had brought for doing the work on the sanctuary. They still kept bringing him free will offerings every morning until that was raised as an issue and Moses had to stop them from bringing (Exodus 36: 1-6).
How much blessed the present church would be if we are such generous people living without considering our own needs but lavishly contributing to the furtherance of the gospel and for the establishment of His kingdom.

Out of their substance whether large or small: –
We are very sure about whom the context is talking about. Yes, about the old widow who gave the last two copper coins that she had. How much blessed is she! To get the words of appreciation from the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.

Giving more than money: –
In Luke 10:25-37, Jesus tells the classic story of the Good Samaritan — one who gave time, resources, and skill to meet the need of a man who had been left for dead at the side of the road. The Samaritan makes himself vulnerable and available — the very definition of hospitality.
These days of pandemic, brought to light more generous hearts amidst us and also from the brothers and sisters following other faith.
Let our Lord enable us to Jump in with whatever you should give — money, time, skills — and see what God will do both in you and through you.

Give when even there is no logic: –
After being humiliated and devastated by his own family members in a very ruthless way Joseph’s mind would have certainly intimated him to refrain from entertaining his brothers with hospitality but rather could have really used this opportunity to show a tit for tat. It is really inspiring to know the manner in which Joseph behaved with his own brothers.
Moving beyond our humanity is the hardest thing to overcome. Setting aside differences in order to help do the right thing with our generosity is an act of real maturity, true Christ-likeness.

There are great men and women of God who have generously given their education, time, resources serving humanity in turn serving our Lord.

Dr. Ida Scudder, the founder of CMC hospital, Vellore contributed her education, time, talents, resources, aspirations and everything of hers for the greater service of humanity and that too not for her own people but for entirely a different nation.

Even after 100 years the college and the hospital is being continuously watered serving thousands and thousands of people catering to their needs. Recently CMC, Vellore has been awarded as the best among the Indian hospitals to treat the patients affected with COVID 19.
Dr, Ida’s example is one such example among many thousands of examples. May the Sovereign gracious God help us to have a generous heart.

And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ – Matthew 25 : 40
