Walk Of Life – Day 12, October 2020, Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs
Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad. – Proverbs 12:25
There are many types of communication like intra personal communication and inter personal communication, verbal and non-verbal communication, formal and informal communication and some more. There is something that we should know regarding intra personal and inter personal communication.
Intrapersonal communication is the communication done with oneself. Included are the thoughts, assessments, contemplations, and feelings that are associated with one’s inner communication. This is based on the self-conception, perception and expectation.
Intrapersonal communication is the reason behind these words “Stress”, “depression”, “anxiety”, “Fear”, which has become quite common. Even a small infant or a toddler says “oh mama, I’m very much depressed” and yes, there are many things under the sun that make them depressed. The newspaper that we read has more of negative captions and the news reader reads the headlines filled with all disheartening news very clearly and promptly. When we start pondering over all the events that happens, an uninvited sorrow fills our heart. When it is meditated it changes into anxiety resulting in depression.
Let come what may, we have our blessed Father constantly telling us “Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed. For I am with you” and the one who promised us is faithful to His promises.
Whatever might be the situation that sinks us down, the Intra personal communication should strengthen us with the word of God. How much blessed are we to have the words of the living God in our hand enriching us with in numerous promises. Let the weak say, I’m strong. Emeasoba George has said “The scripture says in (Joel 3:10) let the weak say I am strong and the poor say I am rich. That is to say, you should not speak negatively, no matter your present condition. So, dare to speak and act positively at all times.” We should always practice the heart of speaking kind words, positive words, scripture verses to ourself that will keep our heart glad.
The second type is Inter personal Communication which is talking to others. Our Lord allows His children to go through a certain trial or agony or problem or temptation in order to understand and experience it so as to replace ourselves in the shoes of others when they undergo the same kind of a problem. Just like the eighteenth verse of Hebrews chapter 2 that says “For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted” It is for the sake of encouraging and up lifting the down cast souls that we go through some parts of affliction and we must endure them with joy and comfort others with kind words when they face the same situation.
The friends of Job, after hearing about his most pitiable condition came from a far of country and they mourned continually for seven days and nights. But after that, what did they do? They poked him very bitterly. The grieved his heard with unkind words. It would have been better if they would not have come
How are our words to others when they are deeply discomforted? What type of words do we tell others when they have faced a failure? With what words do we justify a person who has back slid-den? When the adulterous woman was chased by group of men to stone her to death as she was caught in adultery, the words of Jesus Christ gave her hope to live. He restored the broken life of Woman of Samaria.
Dear brothers and sisters, shall we ask the Lord to fill us with His grace to speak kind words to make others get over from anxiety and also to keep us glad even when are facing trials and temptations.
