Walk Of Life – Day 13, July 2021 – Thoughts From The Book Of Proverbs – Be Diligent

BE DILIGENT TO WALK WITH WISE MEN

He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed. – Proverbs 13:20

Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him – Genesis 5:24

Moses brought Joshua up the mountain to receive the Ten Commandments from God (Ex. 24:13). Joshua observed Moses’ righteous indignation when Moses smashed the two tablets (Ex. 32:17-19), and Joshua was witness to the holy communion Moses shared with the Lord as he guarded the tent of meeting (Ex. 33:11). Through all these critical moments in the life of God’s people, Joshua was there with Moses.

Elijah was a prophet of God. He had the power of the priesthood. He had the power of God. He had become old. Elisha had followed Elijah for many years- 2 Kings 1:10. God had told Elijah that Elisha would be the next prophet. Elijah and Elisha went to the Jordan River. Elijah hit the water with his coat. The water divided. They walked through on dry land – 1 Kings 19:16; 2 Kings 2:6–8. Elijah and Elisha walked and talked together. Elisha wanted the Holy Ghost to be with him – 2 Kings 2:9–10. Elisha became the prophet. He had the power of the priesthood. He had the power of God. As Elijah went to heaven, he dropped his coat on the ground. Elisha picked it up – 2 Kings 2:11–13.

But Ruth said, “Do not press me to go back and abandon you! Wherever you go I will go,wherever you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people and your God, my God. Where you die I will die, and there be buried. May the Lord do thus to me, and more, if even death separates me from you!” – Ruth 1:16

The above quotes scriptures are examples of those who chose to walk with wise men. Ruth was so free to choose to go back to her own home and to her people. But she chose to go along with Naomi, her mother-in-law as she clearly understood that her God is the God of hosts. The blessing that she received is her name being entered in the genealogy of Christ. What a blessing! This is because she chose to walk with the wise.

Elisha, could have stayed away from Elijah but he found the secret that the power and anointing in Elijah is something supernatural and that he is not an ordinary person. How wisely he started to follow Elijah continuously and the blessing he received is the double fold anointment of what Elijah had.

Joshua could have happily lived down the mountain with the multitude of people but he went along with Moses to the mountaintop and he tarried there along with Moses and waited for him to return back. The blessing that he received is he entered into Canaan.

Soaring up above everyone is Enoch who walked with God of whom Apostle Paul Mentions in Romans 16: 27 as “to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.”

No more elaboration is required to prove the importance of being diligent to walk with the wise people. We must be very careful to analyse the ones with whom we walk. Psalmist says that we should not walk along with the sinners and his son Solomon says that we have to walk with the wise. The wise will stay away from sins and the sinners and the wise will always have God in the center of their lives as it’s fools who say that there is no God.

Make sure that you are very much diligent to walk with the wise. May God bless you.
